End of the MXL / MXL2 Era
I haven't seen it posted - the MXL2 isn't in production any longer. The direct descendant of the MXL Pista and the classic race car data logger, it's time finally came. As I was at the track today with the latest AiM device, I kept thinking about the MXL Pista and MXL2. The Pista was my first race car dash and and the MXL2 was the first dash of the latest generations that I had. All good things must come to an end.....
The MXL2 ...legendary.

I think you mean MXL2 2016 to 2022. Thanks for the dates. You really missed out not running one in your purpose built, Pinto powered, single seat race car. Having used the Pista, the appearance of the MXL2 really showed just how far the dashes had come in processing power, memory, alarm capabilities, CAN programming, and more.
The good news is that the MXS, MXP, and MXG 1.2/1.3 continue on with more power, color displays, and better features. We are in good hands.

I've missed out on nothing with my EVO5 and GS-Dash. Works well for what I'm using it for. That's what data is for, not for seeing how many sensors and CAN2's you can daisy chain.
It does help that the chips and components are available for the color dashes and tht the color dashes have been outselling the monochrome MXL2 by a significant amount.
AiM can move forward with the new generation (1.2, 1.3 and MXP) color dashes more efficiently and with better value than the monochrome/older gen hardware.
A natural progression.

My car is a two-seater fully aluminum monocoque (not tube frame like FF2000 or Radicals) training ground for prototype sports racing cars used by Jimmy Vasser, Scott Goodyear, Calvin Fish, Steve Knapp (Indy 500 Rookie of the Year) and James Weaver, among others.
I sold hundreds of MXL2's starting in December of 2014 after waiting 23 months and a TI chip redesign after they were shown at PRI in 2012, Here's a pic from December 4th, 2014. Not sure where you were...

Nice photo. I like the SCHD rev 2 in the photo. When was that taken?

The harness is exactly the same as the other hardware that is still being produced. AiM normally keeps a good supply of parts for warranty work and replacement, so I would not worry about that too much. While there are things they eventually run out of, I'm not sure there is anything a user would need to worry about stocking.
