996 GT3 Cup rally car

Love it, love it, love it. I take it the steering wheel cover is just to stop fading? Have you ever thought about running her in a rallycross? There was an old aircooled rally prepped 911 in the one I did and it pretty much stole the show while also winning its class.

The steering wheel cover is on so I will not get it greasy while I get the car ready for rallying
Rallycross no way that is one quick way to destroy a great car
Within the next week it will be road legal in the UK and then a couple more weeks to get its competition MSA log book then go rallying and retire the RS200 which I use now see photo

Yes, rallycross can take its toll. Heres that 911 I mentioned - Stuart McFarlane's '74/'75 rally special on day 2, after overnight rain had consolidated the loose sand and a full morning's track prep had much improved the condition of the infield compared to Saturday. Stuart was on his second engine for the meet by then!

If you've got time to kill, here's how that meet went for me. No rally car so ran our old circuit racer on her usual track tyres instead:

I see your from New Zealand I have just sold the Colin McRae 1998 WRC Subaru R10 WRC which went on to become the Possum Bourne ROG car

I worked with Possum Bourne's sister, Kris, for quite a few years (not around rally cars unfortunately) and I could see in her some of what must have powered Possum to achieve what he did. He is an icon here, not so much in the sense of some distant star in the heavens as people look up to one of the many great egos that have populated motorsport but more in the sense of that bloke next door who would always lend you a hand whenever you needed it and just happened to also fire WRC cars through stages faster than pretty much anyone else on the planet.
We're lucky our Haydon Paddon has a fair bit of that too, but there will never be another Possum Bourne. The kids are wondering why I've teared up all of a sudden, and that despite never actually having met him. We're none of us saints, and I'm sure he wasn't either, but Ive never heard a bad word said or written about him anywhere. Gone much too soon, but he's still the guy most of us would have wanted as a neighbour (early morning rally departures and all).

My first rally with the Porsche the Hemicuida Rally in Belgium on the 7-8 October , there is one other 997 GT3 rally there , I am praying for a dry rally as Belgium Rallies usually have deep ditches to catch you out
Will update after the Rally
