Xpel and Opticoat on my 911 50th
Just got my recently acquired 911 50th completely refreshed and protected. The guys at AQS (Automotive Quality Solutions) in Ashburn VA did a fantastic job.
Services performed:
- Cleaned inside and out
- Clay Bar
- Opti-Guard Leather/Vinyl on interior (including pepita seats)
- Xpel on front of car (bumper, hood, fenders)
- Opticoat Pro entire car including wheels
- Opticoat Pro Plus on painted surfaces (including on top of Xpel)
- Opti-Trim on black trim pieces
- Opti-Glass Pro
- Replaced OEM film on quarter panels (in front of rear wheels)
I was mentally prepared to see a noticeable difference on the front where the Xpel film was applied, but it's virtually invisible. I had a 997 that had 3M on it a half dozen years ago and it was easily detectable even though it didn't look bad. Amazing how far these films have come. Will have to report back at some point with more observations on the film and Opticoat performance.
Just got the vehicle a month ago and didn't really want to drive it much until I got some protection on the front. My Cayman got pretty dinged up from rock chips in the front over the course of a couple years. Too many construction trucks on the highways around here.
Some pics of the process included. Need to get some good light and weather for some close-ups of the interior.
Ready to go now - just need to get past the winter!
Cleaned and ready for Xpel.
In special room for Xpel and Opti-Coat application.
Xpel application complete and first coat of Opti-Coat.

You'll see many installers remove the badge, headlights and side markers. As this allows for a cleaner and better installation. The badge removes easily as do the headlights and side markers.
