Harbor Freight vs. Griot's orbital
Has anyone used both? Is there much of a difference. I'm happy to buy the Griot's but the price for the Harbor polisher makes me ask. I am lightly experienced. Thanks for all replays.

I find a difference...
I have used both. The Griots is by far a superior machine and will last the home DIY'er a lifetime using it for personal vehicles. I have have used mine for three different cars,a dn with the assortment of pads it works flawlessly each time.
I cannot say the same for the HF equipment. After the second time I used it (was given as a gift by my brother 7 years ago) it literally burned up in my hand (smoked) and would run hot. That is why I bought the Griots.

A well known detailer told me he uses the HF, which surprised me.
A friend bought one and had to return it because it would not stay on.
I guess if you don't get a lemon, it's worth the price. It's not rocket science but it has to work.
I have a Griots with no complaints.

You will not regret it!
Some people say to change the backing plate to a 5". That way, you can take advantage of the wider range of pads and more narrow focus of the smaller pad which is better for corrections. I did this, and when my 6" pads wear out, I'll just keep the 5" plate on there all the time.
