Default Detailer's Domain: Porsche 911 CS - New Car Paint Correction

New Porsche 911 CS Correction.

I got a call from my customer telling me he just got a new 911 CS and asked me to take a look at it, I guess to my surprise I got a pretty swirled/hologram imperfect new 911! It always surprises me that dealers selling cars can do this, I feel its the dealers' job to present a perfectly prepped new car to a customer in fact they should do this for pre-owned cars as well.

Enough ranting, here is the write up.

What was done -
Exterior

- Wheels were prepped with Sonax Wheel Cleaner and cleaned up with various brushes
- Tires were spritzed down with P21S Total Autowash and washed down
- Wheel wells were spritzed down with P21S Total Autowash
- Wash down and rinsed
- Door jambs were cleaned up
- Clayed
- Dried
- Paint inspected and measured
- Wheel Wells were cleaned and dressed
- Tires dressed

what does the thickness usually measures after polishing? 88 seems thin for a new car...am I correct on that?

Phil,

Another amazing job. So sad to see how bad this car was.

BTW - Adam's In/Out Spray is amazing stuff. I hit the the engine on my Audi last weekend after a good cleaning. Simply Awesome.

That looked like a used car. What about that scratch in the clear coat behind the side rear window?

Most polishing for a scratch like that will show as fine scratches in the paint even after waxing.

Incredible to believe that Ferrari would ship something like that.
I detail my own Porsches at delivery. The paint is not perfect, but light years better than your 'before' photos.

BTW. Your work is A+, but I would still guess that Ferrari is far from perfect when viewed under halogen work lights. Why was it so scratched to begin with? I'm sure they use a clear coat, but that thing looked buffed indiscriminately by who, the dealer?

Or is Ferrari notoriously bad about paint finishes from the factory...

dealers for the most part (not all) but at least around here they don't care.

if you put a light to it at delivery you would see nothing 40 hours into the paint trust me and 4 figures later it was how it should have been.
