Default Recommended Product For Cleaning Carpets

I just purchashed a 94' 964 Cab, Black with Classic Gray Interior and Light Gray Carpet. It looks like the carpet has never been cleaned, although it is in good condition. I need a recommendation for the best product to tackle this job.

TIA

Start with a really good vacuum to remove as much dirt as possible.

Then use a diluted Woolite sprayed on to the soiled area. Follow with a damp rag to remove any remaining residue.

Griots also has a nice interior cleaner that works well and isn't too strong.

Avoid too much water and also dry everything as much as possible otherwise you'll end up damaging the silverknit.

Honestly, I use the Zep carpet shampoo from Home Depot. It's low foaming and gentle and performs well with hand agitation without heavy duty machines.

Folex is a great cleaner and can be bought at Home Depot, WallyMart and Lowes.

As Marine stated, the key is a very thorough vacuum. The majority of dirt in carpets is plain ol dirt.

So vacuum, spray with Folex, allow it to dwell a few minutes, agitate with a carpet brush and then blot dry.

For your mats you can use the above method but since they are mats you can spray them down with your garden hose or a pressure washer, vacuum the water out (using a wet/dry vac) and then sit them out in the sun to dry.

My detailer uses a steam extractor much like the carpet outfits use in your home. Never asked what precleaner he uses but I know he's a big fan of 303 products.
The carpets come out looking brand new and the method is very easy on the pile and nap.

I have a mytee HP60 but don't do too many interiors.

For protien based food stains bac-out works every time.

Look at this link for info on Traffic Lane Cleaner.
