I'm alway afraid that a sediment is going to press through the middle of the clay and onto my paint!
besides, I think the clay guys want you to just fold it over so you keep having to buy that $20 caly over and over again!
I know what you mean! I folded the dirt over a few times, and thought the same thing! Cleaning or wiping off the clay is a good idea--I'll have to try that.

If you use a rubber or latex glove on the hand that you are using the clay then it wont be a big deal if it sticks to your hand. And just a little tip, as far a using the clay and folding it over. Rip off about a quarter sized piece of claybar and work it with that. That way if you drop it or it gets dirty just throw it away no need to keep cleaning it. `

Clayed my Black 964 for the first time last night too!...even though i have had the car for about 6 weeks, it took me this long to work up the courage! I spent 2 and a half hours claying it down after washing it first.
Amazing the difference it makes to surface of the paintwork...love that 'baby-smooth' feel, you really notice the contrast to the gritty feel of panels before and after the process.
I used a Zymol clay, worked perfectly with no clay under nails or disentigration. I also used just 'shampoo-heavy' water mix in a spray bottle for clay lube and it worked a treat!
Just got to go through the rest of the process now whilst the car is safely under cover in my garage.
Do you need to HD-cleanse after the clay treatment?
Cant wait to wax her up with the 'Destiny' wax i have waiting.

The secret to using clay is get it wet, I love the Griots clay just spray with speed shine before you use it and it will not stick to your hands,or spray your hands directly. I also spray some speed shine in the container when I am done to keep it from sticking.

Agree with Ben - spray the remaining clay with lube before you store, for a longer shelf life.

I use a small ziplock bag, spray in some lube, put in the unused clay, squeeze out the air, and seal.

Keeps it fresh and ready to use.

Chris.
