What do you wash with? Mitt? Brush? Sponge?
There are boars hair brushes, sponges, microfibre towels, wool wash mitts, etc...
Other than making sure surface is free of grit, and using lots of soap and water, what prefered "tool" do you guys use to wash in order to avoid scratching surfaces of your Porsche?
Cheers;
Eric

I use a cheneele (sp?) wash mitt, and sponges for the wheels/wheelwell area (different sponges of course). I use very little to no pressure, and have found the 2 bucket (1 w/ soap and 1 w/ just water to rinse) very effective.
Good luck,
Steve

I start with my Karcher at 1 meter distance working from bottom up. Then I plug into the regular water hose and use a boars hair brush with internal flow of water then a sheep wool mitt.
Then dry (100% cotton towels), polish and wax.
Do this once per year. Abbreviated process is Meguiars quick detailer.

Deep sea, "Rock Wool" sponge is perhaps the best tool to use for washing as, already noted, it does not harbor grit due to its large pores.
When washing you can squeeze it while in the rinse bucket and it will release any grit.
Caution should be noted though.....prior to your first use it should be soaked in some warm water and thoroughly cleaned. I take mine and bascially wash out all the pores as these can harbor sand and sea shells.

Before I got the Porsche, I used to use my daughters old cotton diaper wipes on all of my cars. After I picked up my 996, my husband wouldn't let me use anything but clean, color coded microfiber towels.

From all the reading I've done it is my understanding that a wool mit is the best. I don't have one and am currently using microfiber mit. Please help as I think I have scratched the car a couple of times. I just bought one of those plastic discs to put in the wash bucket.
Anthony, when using the no-rinse do you first wet the car down before washing?
