Restaurants in Chicago
Guys...
Some friends from BC will be in Chicago next week, any suggestions from experience? Steakhouses, Italian or Asian fusion?? It's hard to separate what is real in online reviews vs what could be chaff...
Thanks.... please pm

If you want the "farm to fork" experience I have had good luck at Farmhouse both downtown and in Evanston

These guys have the pulse of the City and surroundings.

I would suggest Chinatown, a Steak House(many) and Uno's original Deep Dish.
Al's Beef for a lunch(many locations).
I much prefer smaller ethnic family run establishments than the high buck celebrity chef or chains.
LTH has a listing of GNR's (Great Neighborhood Restaurants), won't break the bank and solid good food but if your just a meat/potatoes type, many are probably not for you.
Tony Mantuano, Spiaggia, does the best Italian, we eat a lot at his Kenosha Restaurant.
Not much for Fusion, we eat at Kuni's, Evanston and Katsu North side for Sushi/Sashimi.
Any of Rick Bayless's establishments for Mexican but there are many many small very good Mexican places but not what I think you are looking for.

Thats just river north.
West loop has a bazillion great spots. Just head to west Randolph if you want to be spontaneous.

Yeah, tell them to go to Sunda, and order The Gambler Roll. One of the pieces contains a hidden ghost pepper. Fun for a small group and play sushi roulette. They serve milk. You'll need it.
For steak, check out Swift & Sons.
