Default Intro: new guy to Chicago Region

Long time BMW guy, bought my first Porsche (997) last Summer. I'm sure I've met a few of you at the track or autox course over the years. Looking forward to getting out and trying the great variety of PCA events in our region. Live in Valparaiso now.

Where's the best online community of Chicago folks? Here? FB?

There is not one that I know of.
Best resource I found was the Chicago PCA.
They run a very top class club!-Richard

Yah, already joined. Doesn't appear they have an active forum or FB page, though.

I've joined maybe 6 different Chicago area "car groups" on FB and the internet to see what was going on, and there is nothing that comes close to PCA and rennlist. Rennlist is basically the only place I could find after extensive searching where you have Chicago-area residents who talk to each other.

There are several Chicago/IL oriented FB car groups, but you typically want to stay away from them unless car spotting Mustangs and pickup trucks are your thing. The Chicago Porsche FB groups are radio silent.

I've met a lot of Porsche friends at Fuelfed, LAPS and PCA. Fuelfed is more community and social based. LAPS is a track group and they do burger nights every month. Good guys all around. But yeah stay away from the other car groups. Even the Chicago BMW group is dicey.

The Chicago PCA is great. I have been a member for a couple of years now.

My opinion it's on rennlist, who has time for fb?

It amazing how how many Porsche guys are local like at a northstar' open house. Place was packed last year.

Welcome from Barrington.

Your username seems familiar, but can't pin point.

Welcome! More details about your 997?

Plan for a Sunday morning around Barrington and I will be there.
Traffic is light on Sunday morning but you got to watch for LE looking for Sunday morning revelers as it's much easier to catch vehicles!-Richard

The first PCA Porsches & Pastries is Saturday, April 1st at Labriolla Cafe in Oakbrook (great Intelligentsia coffee and cinnamon scones.....eggs benedict is very good, too).

They are doing a Wrigley Park tour on June 24th.

I'm in for anytime that I'm not playing hockey dad.

I know where most of the speed traps are in Barrington, lived here for last 12 years.

By the way early Sundays in Barrington has a lot of police traps catching cyclists running stops and riding in large peloton's. They changed to single file a few years ago. Rude cyclists ruined it for the rest of us (cyclists) on the narrow roads.
