I have been in discussions with Jim at Eagle's Canyon Raceway on the north side of Fort Worth. Paving of the track is complete. They are now laying the curbing. The have a top coat layer that will be put down when the weather turns warmer. The really good news is the track can be driven on.

I have arranged a driving tour of the track on Saturday 12/16. The plan is to meet at a Starbuck's in Plano in the morning being ready to leave at 11:00 am. I would plan to be there at 10:30 to get your morning coffee before we head out.

We are going to stop for lunch at the historic Clarks BBQ on the north side of Fort Worth in Tioga and should be at the track around 1:15-1:30 pm.

I don't know if it wil be Jim, David and/or Linda there to meet us, but I have been confirmed that at least one of them will be there to give us the tour. We will get to be the first group to drive on the new surface.
One of the really nice aspects of this track is not the track itself, but the drive. The road we take to get there, 455, is a snaking 2-lane with lots of tight corners to play in. It should be a spirited drive out there.

I might make this too. Funny thing is, it's probably been a year since I looked in the Regional forum but glad I did. Spherical bushings show up on Monday, wonder if I can get them installed and get it aligned by Sat...?

We went out & drove it again last weekend (12/2). The track surface is completely paved but gravel is still around in some areas from the big rain we had a couple of weeks ago. I know a couple of the AMA bike guys were out there this weekend (12/9). They were throwing up some dust on the straights & taking the corners pretty easy from what I heard so it may still be a little grimey. I have only been out in the truck a couple of times. The entry road is a little rough & you still have to climb the edge of the track to get up on the surface. Just a warning fror some of you guys in low cars.
You guys will LOVE the road heading out from 35 (FM455)
Have fun & maybe I'll see you out there

AMA was out there evaluating the track. They have been laying down curbing. AMA has additional requirements for curbing that are different from the various auto racing sanctions they are working with, so AMA was out there giving what changes were going to be necessary to have an AMA national event at Easgle's Canyon.
The track is paved, but the surface is not complete. They have a top coat that still has to be put down to seal the track. For safety issues, no one is allowed to take the track at full speed. This has to do with both the surface and the unfinished runoff. Look at this is an opportunity to get some time to explore a new track, not explore your limits on it (yet). Leave your race tires at home. I got confirmation that it will be Linda and David giving the tour.
Last note: weather is going to be great on Saturday. How about shorts weather in the middle of December? It is expected to be at least middle 70's with a possibility of hitting 80. It is going to be sunny, but could be a little windy.
