Default Navigation possible issue

For some time now I have noticed the PCM Navigation routing on 2 lane rural roads doesn’t necessary reflect the fastest route. Roads I usually use it will not route on but find a longer less direct route. I’ve noticed the when traveling these roads the speed limit reflected is 30 mph but I know the limit is 55. The roads are not posted so not reading the limit. It’s like there is an over ride to speed limit in the mapping program that’s incorrect. I’m beginning to suspect the reason routing on these roads is the low speed limit so it thinks there is a faster route. Anyone else experience this? I know there are other choices to use for navigation but this issue is regarding the Porsche navigation.

I have not experienced this, however, somewhat timely and ironically, there was a large discussion over on the MB forum that I frequent about Google maps, versus MB's navigation and routes offered up. The convo was very algorithmic centered (under the hood compare and contrast) versus a user centric focus.

My uneducated guess is that there is not enough demand or historical use of 2 lane rural roads, yet anyway, to ensure these get mapped and included in the algorithm as a priority.

The speed limit, maybe the camera just grabbed the last sign it saw, as I think, not entirely sure, that is how it generates that info. I could be incorrect.

Yesterday the last speed sign was on the interstate at 70. Pulled onto the rural road and 30 showed up on the dash gauge. No signs. Very few rural county roads have speed signs, assumed 55 unless otherwise stated.

Not a clue then...maybe ping Porsche or research that question online a find a better answer.

Are you saying you assume it is 55 unless otherwise stated or the software should assume that?

what is the chunk of road? they do change speed limits from time to time. the speed limit sign you are seeing in your cluster comes from whoever the service provider is that gives the speed limit data.

limit on these roads is 55 unless posted differently. Navigation is defaulting to 30.

if a city incorporated that area it would drop the speed down to their x unless otherwise posted. 30 is common for that. so is 25.
