I have given up on the double flash of brights and wave to other Porsche drivers when in my Cayenne. I would get maybe 5% acknowledgement back. When in my Taycan it is closer to 50/50, so I still flash and wave.

has anyone else noticed this? i think it is sad.
People buy luxury vehicles for just plain dailies, they buy them because they just like a particular or many models, they buy them for the cult/history/collector following, or some just buy them because they feel the need to call attention to themselves for whatever myriad of reasons.

I know people in all those categories.. It's just a personality/character/personal thing and sometimes an age/bling/personal-expectation thing..

You will only get feedback from those people that have expectations similar to yours.. For others, you are just another driver..

Are we sure that, generally speaking, Porsche owners are the kind of folks who wave at other drivers period?

I have gotten only a few waves in my new Cayenne S e hybrid but for sure get all kinds of waves from Miata and non-Miata owners when I'm driving my 2023 red Miata soft top with the top down!

Multiple 911 and Cayenne owner here, Chicago area. No waves, ever. Period. In fact when I try I get strange looks even from other 911 drivers. In my Jeep Wrangler, my DD, I get waves from other Wrangler drivers at least once daily Maybe 75% of Wranglers reciprocate. Its a Jeep thing.

Back in the day, 1970's and 80s British car drivers always flashed our headlights at each other. I know when I drove my E Type that every MG, Jaguar, Triumph and Lotus driver would reciproicate. We always stopped when (inevitably) one of us was parked on the side of the road needing assistance. We were a (mostly) brotherhood of concurrent pain and pleasure.

These crazy days, if you flash your lights, you may get shot by some crazy people..
