Question 2024 Cayenne S or 4th gen Cayenne….

Hi everyone. I’m having some hard time on making decision for my next Porsche. I currently drive a 2016 Macan s, and looking to get something new. My hesitation is around if I should get a 2024 Cayenne or if I’d better wait for the 4th generation Cayenne. My considerations are:
4th generation pros:
1. 4th generation Cayenne is about to come out in 2 years, and likely it will looks different from the 3rd generation(current generation). I don’t want to drive something looks out dated.
2. 4th generation might have some new tech that makes the driving experience even better.
2024 Cayenne pros:
2. 4th generation might be a ev rather than a gas car and I’m not 100% convinced that ev is good.
3. The 2024 cayenne seems like already have the interior upgrade so I wouldn’t expect much upgrade 2 years later.
4. The exterior of 2024 cayenne is pretty cool, so not sure if I want to take the risk that the 4th generation might not fit my appetite.

Any advice is appreciated!

Wait until the next generation Cayenne is announced and/or released and decide if you like it. If not, then you can buy a leftover new or lightly used CPO previous gen Cayenne.

My understanding is the 24 cayenne will be the last ICE model. In 26 or so the new cayenne will be released that is only EV. It will coexist with the 24 refresh Cayenne for a while.

In 2026 they will launch the EV variant
The actual variant will stay until around 2030, as per Porsche detailed.

Will the coexist more like right now ‘we can get 2023 and 2024 cayenne’ type, or panamera & Taycan type?

Do you think the 2026 ev variant will still be called as Cayenne with similar look, and the current 2024 cayenne exterior looks will be there until 2030? Do you mind sharing the source about actual variant will stay until around 2030? Thanks in advance

if you need a car now, buy it. If you like the new one in 2026 (or beyond) trade your 2024 in? I'm waiting for a 992.2 (911) to release before buying, but I'm told it is only 6 months away. I don't have patience to wait 2 years.

I don’t really need one now, but mentally wants it. My worry about trade in is that the trade in might cost me 20 or 30ish K…

By the time 2 years later, the 4.5th generation will come out 2.5 years afterwards, with another (minor) facelift, newer tech, and/or interior upgrade.

Trust me. Nothing beats the enjoyment of driving a beloved vehicle on the road now, rather than to watch them flying pass you while you are still debating when to bite the bullet.

Get the car now and don't over-option it. Take great care of it. Then trade it in and get a newer model if you like it better in 2-3 years.

Sage advice. Also possible the 26 EV will be delayed as they are struggling to work through software issues on Macan EV and one would suspect all their Future EV models. Buy the car you want. Life is short

Just sold my 2015 Macan with 39k miles that I build similar to the 2024 Cayenne S that’s in a Stop Order nederworld: Keep your Macan S. I had a 2003 CS and model was just evolving

I would wait. Preowned prices are tanking, new cars are getting discounted. So pricing only gets better from here.

Ordering a new MY24 puts you into the drama and rollercoaster ride of stop sales, allocations and manufacturing delays.

Regarding next gen, it's your call. Being a guinea pig on a new platform is usually not fun for early adopters. 2019 9Y0 Cayenne had a pretty small list of launch issues, which seems to be the exception rather than the rule. The latest MB GLE was a failed launch in 2020 given the number and severity of the problems. Latest X5 launch seemed OK. In summary, buying the first year or two of a new platform is a dice throw.

THIS is correct. Was specifically stated that the Cayenne was allowed a major refresh budget because of an extended second part of its life. No replacement until 2030.
