Engine Control Fault
#16
Latest update.
Flywheel sensor looked ok so they didn’t replace.
Took valve covers off and found broken rocker.
‘Now they’re scoping the engine looking for ball bearings.
my question is wouldn't a fault code indicate that a cylinder was not firing?
Now they’re telling me portion of repair is approaching 15,000-17,000.00
i don’t think I should be responsible for mis-diagnosis especially when they were communicating with Porsche engineers.
14 weeks without my vehicle and counting.

Did they somehow screwed something up during the Cam shaft sensor replacement?
You may want to start getting advice from a lawyer.. 3+ Months of various dubious stringed diagnostics/repairs doesn't sound right.
The lawyer can get advice from a Porsche expert mechanic to review if what the dealer is doing make sense or if they may be stringing you..

I’ll ask the question about removing valve cover to replace cam sensor.
I’m lucky if I hear something from them every 7-10 days now.
I’ve now missed the entire summer without my vehicle.

No, I didn’t purchase the extended warranty.
‘I’ve never experienced a problem like this before and I’ve had a Range Rover and X5M that went close to 100,000 miles before I traded them in.

Its a very bad idea to own a car with an engine as expensive as the value of the car with high miles. You are playing with fire. If a rocker arm broke and piece went into the engine, the chances of needing a new engine is quite high. I think the cost will be in $50,000 range with labor from a Porsche dealer.
