Hi guys,
I wanted to get a poll against the two most premium Dashcams on the market , Blackvue DR900x Plus vs Thinkware U1000.
Please consider long term reliability and overall features, not just video clarity. please kindly do not discuss budget Amazon/ eBay ones here.
been using BlackVue for the past 15 years but considering a switch over to another premium brand
I agree that one of the best references you can check is Vortex Radar channel on Youtube.
I have an experience with the first gen Blackvue 900 from 2017 and it was excellent in regards to cloud services, only problem i faced is overheating if you live in a hot area.
as per my knowledge Thinkware U1000 is an old product from around 2019-2020 so i suggest to jump on the latest blackvue or wait for the new thinkware flagship to be released, but check vortex channel first.
I’ve used both. From personal experience unfortunately it’s a win-lose thing.
With u1000 the picture quality is great. The app setup and sync was a pain and atleast when I used it the cloud features were a hit and miss.
With blackvue 900x the picture quality is ok. You’ll be able to capture the important bits no doubt, but no license plates that are whizzing by you. The cloud functionality is pretty robust.
so depending on your usecase you’ll have to decide. On my GT car i use blackvue just so that i can check up on it when i have parked someplace. On my daily driver i have u1000.

thanks , I agree with the comments on BV, impossible to read licence plate during most circumstances, but I’m leaning towards BV due to the aftermarket support coverage available in Australia.
the cloud notification also seems to be very robust as you mentioned

I placed an order for the U3000 launch offer, 2 channels with the largest battery pack they have (7,500 mah) and all installation hardware for $799. I should receive it around the end of the month
Any tips regarding installation will be much appreciated
Hey Turrrbo
have a look at this thread https://rennlist.com/forums/cayenne-...cayenne-2.html
im still waiting for my cayenne to arrive , once it arrives I’ll take as much as photos as possible to describe my install.
some ppl have put the Dashcam battery in the battery area under the front footwel. I’m planning to place this in the spare wheel area in the luggage compartment.
