Default Was I given EU headlights?

After 13 months, I finally picked up my Cayenne GTS. I will do a full write up in a separate thread but I did want to ask a question to clarify something. It seems like my Matrix headlights seem to be doing a lot more than the matrix headlights in my 2022 Macan S when they are in "Auto" mode. They are scanning the road left to right, up down as well as increasing their strength front to back. The matrix headlights in Macan S simply went on/off with respect to high beams. Furthermore, I seem to have "fog" lights in my cayenne which when turned on illuminate red LEDs in the rear and in the front sides illuminate. When fog lights are on and the headlights are in auto mode, the front side beams independently turn on and off (as in left side fog light turns on while right is off).

I have no idea if this is normal or somehow this US regulation change made it to my car OR somehow I ended up getting EU headlights because Porsche tried to build my felicity ace sank Cayenne as ordered and had no US matrix headlights.

I personally thought the rear red fog lights were not legal in US. I dont remember seeing them ever here.

Congratulations on your GTS. It’s been a long wait! I’m looking forward to your review.

Based upon your description they seem different from US spec. But there are some similarities: US spec PDLS+ lights have dynamic cornering lights. Above 3 mph they swivel the beam in the direction of the steering. Additionally, the static cornering lights individually switch on during steering, similar to the behavior you describe. These are the same lights as used for the fog lights. And yes, the rear fog lights are quite bright.

Here’s an excerpt from my detailed post on the lighting system in this thread:
https://rennlist.com/forums/cayenne-...ht-strips.html

The bottom photo shows the the taillights barely visible during daylight. The rear fog lights, however, were clearly visible. .

Turning on the Fog Lights will also turn on the headlights and taillights during daylight. The Fog Lights are the same ones used for static cornering.

It will also activate the rear fog lights which are very bright — much brighter than the taillights.

It's conceivable that they updated the software before releasing to you. Do you have a video you can share?

Indeed — European lighting standards (UNECE) allow over two times the light intensity from high beam headlight systems as compared to the U.S. The U.S. compliant systems allow a vehicle maximum of only 150,000 candela while European compliant systems allow a vehicle maximum of 430,000 candela.

However, US spec lights had equal or better perceived illumination on low beam, compared to EU lights. Read all about it in this comprehensive test entitled COMPARISON OF EUROPEAN AND U.S. SPECIFICATION AUTOMOTIVE HEADLAMP PERFORMANCE, available here:
