On a non-PSE, the question is does the circuit need a charge to "open" the valve? If so, then theoretically disconnecting before the car is started would prevent the valve from being activated.
Secondly, if temperature controlled with a sensor, then it would likely relay the temperature to the computer and when it hit the appropriate temperature, it would send the charge to open it.

Agree with all. The real question is this valve normally open or…normally closed? If it’s spring loaded, normally open, then unplugging it should keep it open and therefore more sound. I know the vacuum valves work this way, but not sure on electrically actuated…. Hoping a big brain (or at least someone with first hand knowledge😉 wades in on this!

I found a very informative thread for a non-PSE Macan’s exhaust valve. Your Cayenne probably works in a similar manner. The valve is closed below 3,000 rpm. Thread discusses sound change when forcing it open.

One posted a video of his valve opening and closing while driving. Includes Picture in Picture of dash while driving. It’s a pretty busy valve: It opens and closes many times during a drive.

Bumping a really old forum post, but I didn't find anything newer with better information. Did anyone make any headway since 2021 on determining if you can bypass the non-PSE exhaust valves for a better exhaust note?
