Found this an in depth review of PCM 6.0 which will be in all 2022 Cayenne models (it is in german but video is intuitive). UI looks more modern to me but would love to hear current PCM 5 owners thoughts on what they see changed

It looks basically the same as 5 except for some layout changes and as noted Apple CarPlay is full screen. I'd be more interested to know if the CPU is quicker or the revised software makes the existing CPU run the display quicker. Mine takes some time to boot up when I start the car in the morning. As to CarPlay, I find it fairly limited as compared to in our 2018 Honda Odyssey. I can't dial when the car is moving, can't scroll more Tham one page looking for music when the car is moving. Once the car is moving most functions need to be via voice control. Same with Waze - can't input an address while the car is moving. Probably safe that way, but inconsistent rules from manufacturer to manufacturer.

You can turn on auto subtitles then also do auto translate to English. Helps to get a little more out of the video even though it's definitely missing something in translation.

this is almost idneticail to the Taycan UI - and I’ve yet to find a way to have full screen CarPlay - there is still a left/right hand “margin” for Porsche UI controls that could be used by CarPlay if there was a setting for it.

I wish they integrated Spotify instead of Apple Music to PCM. I have it on my BMW and its so convenient.

I've learned to live with a few quirks I find with the current PCM. Aside from the aforementioned slow boot times, my AC doesn't hold its "synchronized" setting from when I last shut off the car and the rear HVAC fan blows at a high rate every time I restart the car until I cycle the synchronize button. When I start the car and select SiriusXM and start listening to a program, a few seconds later when my iPhone connects, Apple CarPlay comes up and interrupts the satellite radio program until I press the Media button. There is no way to shut off the surround sound view warning tone (other than manually each time it sounds) and lowering it still leaves it intrusive. Other than that, I don't have too many complaints. I'm sure MY2022 will appreciate the improvements.

I have a slightly irritating issue with PCM 6.

Whenever I start the car in the garage (no cell coverage) I get this:





Initially I did the set up each time, now I just click Continue as guest (under the “Change account” option, there is nothing but “Guest”). The moment I leave the garage and it connects to internet it automatically logs in with my account.

That does sound irritating. From what you describe, I wonder if a data connection is required to activate the Porsche ID via Driver Profile. It may not be required if you use the login via a recognized Bluetooth device. If you wish to try it you can change it in the PCM. Here’s how in PCM 5; PCM 6 may be similar:

Go to SET | Porsche Connect | Porsche ID Settings | Settings (lower right). You should see the screen, below. Select Bluetooth, then Confirm Settings. Hopefully, that will log you in while in the parking garage.
