Water fluid leaking from backup camera?
anyone have ever experience this? my car just had muti point inspection last week and I bought up the problem with the advisor but was told "function as design"

Mine does the same. Drives me nuts. I know it washes the camera which is nice but I can't figure out what the washing is based on...is it when I use the front windshield wiper wash? My issue is it has left a crust all the way down the rear of the car that I will have to use a clay bar to remove as it does not come off with a full wash;.

The rear camera is supposed to get washed by the rear window washer when you push the wiper stalk away from you. In practice it seems a little iffy. Haven't noticed water dripping from mine but I'll have to look again.

No need to put up with that, Derek and A4AP; that leakage is not normal. The spray nozzle has an integrated check valve which has failed and is allowing leakage. Touareg owners also suffer this problem.
Tell your dealers that you need a new “Injection Nozzle with Valve”. Part # PAB-955-993-A (Rear Camera) or PAB-955-993 (Rear Surround Camera). Part depends on if you have Surround View option.
See attached exploded parts diagram (#6) with picture overlay for orientation.

I just looked over the warranty and yes, I believe it should be covered. Discuss this with your dealer and be sure to say that you have a fluid leak caused by a defective check valve. If they deny warranty repair you can request warranty arbitration. Declaring your intention to do so may provide additional persuasion.
It is only a $10 part but looks like it may take an hour or two of shop time to replace it. Good luck, and please post how things work out.

Just a follow up.
Pop/slide (with your fingernails) the clip circled in orange so that you can disconnect the fluid line from the check value (be careful - it's all plastic).I couldn't get a good picture of it, but the cable that connects the camera a little tab to push to disconnect that wire. See my next set of pictures for how to disconnect the camera wire. You will want to do that in order to get to the little clip that holds the check valve in place (I used a very small screw driver. The whole process from screw/trim removal to replacing the valve took 10 minutes. Getting the stupid little metal trim clips out is proving to be a pain, though.

Here's a couple more snaps. The orange arrow points to the black tab (don't mess with the purple plastic) that you need to depress to disconnect the camera wire. The blue arrow is the clip that holds the check valve in place. I used a small screwdriver to carefully blend that clip so that I could pull out the check valve. The blue arrow in the second picture shows the clip on the actual check valve. I have surround view. If you don't, your check valve body will be all black.

I’ve been thinking about that since your last post on the taillight removal thread.
BTW, nice tutorial!
I see you fully pinched the clip — that’s good. Only other suggestion is to increase the pulling force while wiggling the clip. Maybe a little dab of lubricant around the sheet metal opening? Larger slip-joint pliers or needle-nose vise grips might work.

If you really force it, you'll break one of the tabs on the clip. Ask me how I know. At least that part of the hatch is not made of a magnetic metal (must be aluminum?). When I broke a tab, the clip shot up inside the hatch. I was able to locate the clip with my finger (so I knew where it was), then used a strong magnet to "walk" the clip up to a hole, and out. This approach likely won't work for all the clips, though. Sigh.
