New Cayenne with BBS Wheels
Hey everyone. The Turbo S in my avatar is just now sold. Wife and I are combining down into a single SUV. I likely doing a heavy build on an E Hybrid. Feels funny to be going for the lower model but it's 0-60 in 4.7 which coming out of my '06 sounds just fine by me. But I'm loading it with every performance option, PASM, PDCC, Sport Chrono, Rear Axle Steering, in addition to a great deal more but I want this thing to handle as best it can. I'm looking at a couple of colors, and for Lava Orange I'm not happy with any of the wheels other than the black 22" rims at like $7k premium. I don't particularly want 22", and I know I don't want to spend $7k on something I don't want. BBS has a set of wheels for the current Cayenne that I really like, 20", solid brand that's been around forever. Will cost about $4k for the rims and tires but all future tires are going to cost a lot less than 22", so there's that. But BBS has a fitment disclaimer that their wheels are aggressive "tuner" stance and may require "lip rolling". I'm hard stop if any modification to the wells or fenders is required. I've written them. I find it really odd that this would be the case. I'm just putting it out there, if anyone has any experience with BBS wheels on the 9Y0, love to hear them. TIA
I use black Porsche sport design 21 wheels as I did not like any of the wheel choices. I think the lack of a great looking wheel option is one of the big weak spots with the new Cayennes. Maybe that is just me, but I was not going to spend $5K on wheels that are just average looking.
I think 20’s will be fine. Spend the $5K on a better option!

Agree completely. 21" is the sweet spot. I don't care how advanced the suspension, 22" has to take something from the ride and it looks a little overdone. Porsche's selection is sparse enough that the only wheel I feel looks good with my favorite lava orange though is the 22" black. Which is precisely why I started looking at BBS wheels. I'm really looking forward to them telling me what the heck they mean by their wheels being so tuner that I'd have to mod all four corners for them to fit. Sounds ridiculous to me, like a really overblown disclaimer that can't possibly be true. But we'll see. That said, I think I'm backing off orange for mahogany since the wife and I will be sharing this one, and there are genuine porsche wheels I like on mahogany. The other thing also that has me reconsidering orange is that it might seem just a tad overdone on an e hybrid. Funny, I'm coming out of my beloved '06 turbo s which is still fast enough for me 15 years later. Now the new lineup, only the base is over 5 sec 0-60, they're all fast as hell. I'd prefer the GTS for the exhaust note and I'm a petrol head at heart. But again since I'm sharing, my wife likes the quiet of the hybrid, the thing is literally only a 10th of sec slower 0-60 than my Turbo S was NEW. So I'm building an e hybrid with PDCC, PASM, Sport Chrono, Rear Wheel Steering, bunch of interior upgrades, and I'm putting the PORSCHE logo down the side in silver. On an e hybrid. It'll handle like a dream. And something tells me it'll be a 1 of 1.
All I have on BBS is I had BBS CH-R's on my '11 Audi S4 that I just sold a couple months ago and they looked sharp and I had no issues with them. No modifications to the car were required although they could have used a 5mm spacer on the rears but they were so close to perfect I decided only an OCD person (like me!) would ever notice. I can't imagine why you'd have to mod your car to accept them if the bolt pattern, diameter, width and offset work.
I note that on the BBS North America site they don't show any fitment info at all for the 9Y0, but diameter, width, bolt pattern and offset are your relevant data points, this should be pretty figure-out-able. I haven't really thought about aftermarket wheels on my new car so I don't know any of those numbers off the top of my head. BBS does have a toll free number on their site, maybe just give them a call. Toll Free: +1 (877) 832-8209
