Question Order Question

I have CY base which was ordered this month for an April slot, but I just received this below with a completion in July. Doesn't new MY production usually begin in July? We're cash buyers and would prefer a 20.

I would place the order later in the model year to get a true MY 2020.

I was at my dealer this past weekend to check on my order that will be here in mid-May and to test drive the base and S model for comparison and we started talking about the hybrids because it will be less expensive than the S but basically offer similar performance. I asked about maybe switching from the S to a hybrid but the problem is the ones that were ordered as early as January are not gonna be here until September. He said if I wanted to order one, I might as well wait until August and it will be a 2020 model year. He said around mid-August - September orders will be for 2020 models. He could not say for sure but if you want a 20 model year I would wait at least until mid- August. Others may want to chime in if they have better info.

Update: Spoke w/ my dealer, he completely understood a 2020 would be better with it being so close to my 19's production date, their new allocation is on April 20th and I will get the first 2020 slot

Sounds great unless the 25% import car tariffs are imposed in a few months. I'll stick with my $85k 2019 over the same cayenne for $100k in 2020!

It was supposed to take place in Feb and now there is even a fight going on by the administration to release the tariff report/study which for some strange reason (cough) they are very reluctant to do, plus all of T's senior economic advisors are against the tariff saying it would have "catastrophic consequences". My bet is it just won't happen and as a cash buyer with only a month or two longer to wait I'll take a 2020 with a better resale when/after I take delivery thank you (not to mention more bugs excorsized and maybe even an improvement or two).

I agree. Tariff probably wont happen. We are sticking with the 2019 because the 2017 Q7 we are trading in on the Cayenne will also be a model year older in a few months. Unless we could trade in the Q7 at current value and buy a 2020 Cayenne, the resale/depreciation just gets transferred from one car to the other. Additionally, the Q7 has 41k miles and might run out of warranty by September which will kill the resale/trade value.

That makes more sense. We (wifeys ride) are coming out of a 2017 Q7 as well, great vehicle.
