What do you tow? (958 Pic-thread)

Hey guys - I'm considering a CPO 2015-2016 Cayenne Diesel and wanted to get your take on towing a track car... I tow my GT4 on an open Trailex trailer, total weight about 4700#. Will I have any issues passing traffic - say accelerating from 50 to 70 mph? What about going up hills? In SoCal, I have to go over the Cajon Pass and Tejon Pass to get out to our "local" tracks. If I'm pulling the trailer, will I be forced to stay in the slow lane going up the grade, along with all the big semi tractors, going 40mph?
My Mercedes GL450 will pull the loaded trailer over the grade at 65+mph. It may have to downshift to do it, but it allows me to pass traffic and keep up with my buddies who are towing with Cayenne S vehicles. Will I be left behind if I start towing with the C-Diesel????
Thanks for your inputs!

It'll easily tow it and be fine passing. If you want more power you can always buy the Malone Tune for it. Adds 100hp/120ft lbs.
I tow my M3 on a featherlight 3110 trailer, probably 4500lbs

Here's a fun one. Not Porsche related, but "unique" car related. My brother needed my truck and was selling his Hummer and it was cheaper to have the transport company get in RI than NH. I borrowed the Viper for the 2 weeks he needed the truck. While driving this combo down from NH, I got a lot of attention. Cars pulling alongside, dropping back and then alongside again. Amusing.
And the Viper was a fun car to rage around in for a couple of week, though I'd never own one.

Figured I would follow up on my post #4,... since I've switched from a open trailer to enclosed.
This was on our way back from Asheville NC Treffen. Pulled wonderfully. All aluminum except the frame (weighs 3,500 lbs).
Did a CatScale before we left & with everything loaded (trailer, 911, 2 spare trailer tires, & tools) we were at 6,800 lbs.
CTT pulled it easily. My personal opinion is that the PDCC has a lot to do with it. Air suspension might help a little too.
We also run a "weigh-safe" hitch which has the built-in gauge to show my exact tongue weight. Love it.

Ha, having a Cayenne is not enough, for many.
For lots of us, including me, the Cayenne is just to get the toys to the fun-zone. I wonder, 'If I didn't need to tow anything, would I even have a Cayenne?' I'm not sure.

I love love love my Cayenne.
But if I didn't need to tow? I'd probably be in a Panamera for a daily.

If I had no kids and no toys, or, if I ever give the toys up because I can't do them anymore I'd have a new Corvette. Someday.

I do love the Cayenne, I agree, it is an awesome truck. I also would not want to NOT tow as all the fun things I do require me to tow the things to all the fun places.

I only tow my track rat car. If I didn't have it, or had another tow vehicle... I'd daily a sedan of some sort. I'll likely always have some kind of sporty summer car in the garage. If I had to narrow it down to ONE car period, well, that's a much tougher question.

Well that's true.

It would be hard to narrow down to one vehicle. The current Panamera is nice though and I even like the wagon version.

My friend's boat last summer. His Audi Q7 was on order and he didn't have anything to pull it to the lake.
