Default Official 958 Mod thread!

Similar to the picture thread, I think it would be nice if we kept an ongoing thread regarding different modifications on the 958. We all enjoy personalizing to some degree...and I have already seen some cool stuff on various pictures that folks have showed.

Just some of the things I've seen:

Aftermarket exhaust systems
Porsche decals on the rear light
Color matched wheel edge
Pedal sets
Iphone pockets
Lowered 958s
Sporty floor mats

I enjoy seeing all the things, big and small, that can be done to these P!Gs. (My way of getting ideas on what I can do)

So show us what you have done to make your 958 a little different or at least special to you. If anything, it'll be a nice little database of mod ideas for current and future 958 owners to Q&A about.

My little mod of the day....

Thanks Mike. I asked you that question on the other thread,... so thanks for posting up this dead pedal. I've poured over Rennline products in the past, but that one never jumped out at me.
Only downside is it looks like RennLine only made it with the surrounding plastic in BLACK. That would not match all my cognac plastic around it (side kick plate in particular). Bummer.

& so even tho no real "mods" on mine, I will post of the 2 variants of rear cargo mats that others seemed to appreciate. I use them together in combo. One is the stnd rubbr weathertech cargo,.. but the other is a nylon split protector that goes up the back of the rear seats w/ Velcro so we can still fold one seat & not the other. Worked great when I had my last Yellow Lab (RIP Bodie), and his hair would stick to everything.

Plasti-wrapped my rear emblems in black too. (white CTT w/ all blacked out options)

No pics, but:

- TT front bumper (diesel)
- OE Black headlights
- OE Black tail lights
- OE black strip on the bottom of the tail gate
- OE clear side markers

One of the interior dash trim strips (the small one between the steering column and center console) is painted to match my body color (Dark Blue Metallic). The rest are still the factory black/aluminum. Never got around to finishing that project.

ugh. I don't have any available pics of my blacked out GTS since photobucket went haywire...but I have done the following.

tinted front windows
pulled the vacuum lines off so the sport exhaust valves stay open all the time
smoked side markers

There are quite a few of us Overlanding our Cayenne's. As the market has not caught up for us or the VW Touareg, most everything is custom. We have a 958 diesel, several others have modified earlier models. These are truly worthy vehicles. The Northwest Overland Rally had well over 1,000 entries this year - four Cayenne's attended. 'Otis' was asked to lead one trail run and do sweep for another. These runs had the usual Jeep, Taco's, Land Rover & Crusiers and even an AM General HMMWV.
We do trail runs more technical than just forest roads. Understand that a Cayenne will never be a rock-climber or mud-holer - neither of which interest us. Doing more than going to the mall and cruising the boulevard does.

Only a few mods to date, heck these things don't need a lot of modifications. I would like to get a little more sound from her, but that will have to wait just a little bit....

Amber Side Markers were the first thing to go...

Looks much better with clear side markers and the chrome amber bulb!

Next was to get rid of some of the shiny bits on the rear, not to mention I just am not a fan of this standard exhaust on the CTTS...

$6 for a can of plasti-dip, 6 coats and a few hours of time that allowed me to give her a proper bath and this is a rear that I can live with!

By far two of the easiest (and cheapest) mods that I have ever done to one of my vehicles, but she looks so much better!!

Let us know how the plasti-dip stands up to the exhaust tip heat over time...

(I realize it is a shielded cover on the tip,... which should keep it cool enough not to bubble the plasti-dip)

I've had my base/diesel/S tips PD'd for 2 years now. Other than being dirty as sin, still looks like the day I painted them. It's holding up just fine.

that dead pedal looks awesome, how hard is it to install? I looked at the instruction, but mine doesn't look like what they have in the doc.

couple of changes to mine - removed chrome "porsche cayenne turbo s " scripts from back lid, just thought a little busy ; replaced with larger size black "turbo s "
as found on the 997 tts .
since my cayenne is carmine red i colored the side markers with a translucent lens paint to match.
