I brought the car in for the AdBlue refill death spiral countdown message with a full AdBlue tank. The official cause of the AdBlue refill message was "DEF sensor implausible signal" All they did was re-calibrate it. The dealer will only do the re-calibration if you have the error. Nothing pre-emptive is to be done which sucks, so i'm glad the thing failed in my driveway and not in the mountains 600 miles away.

The car showed no errors from the loss of power escapade. Perhaps I had an air bubble from the 30K service where they drained the filter housing. The car runs fine returning 39, 35 & 32 MPG calculated on the trip to NC.

Since I am doing the service myself from now on I'm just going to change the filter every 10K since you have to mess with the stinky diesel fuel in the filter housing to do the water removal @ 10K.

Agreed. Filter is cheap and the process is the same when extracting water.

If you haven't already, go to the auto store and buy a box of heavy nitrile gloves! I like Diamond brand because they're pretty stout.

Definitely!!

The first time I did it, I didn't think to use gloves or have that orange based hand cleaner on hand
