Thank you. That is consistent with every other ATF dipstick reading I have ever done but I don't trust zee Germans to not engineer something completely antithetical and unique...
How much does the dealership usually charge? I noticed some service prices are pretty reasonable, like $200 for brake fluid flush, $225 for 4-wheel alignment....
Porsche indy quoted me $350 for labor by the way
Porsche quoted $310 to drain and fill or $390 to drain and fill, plus drop pan and change filter
That sounds like the labor cost or the fluid cost, not both. My dealer quoted me $900 for a full pan/filter change on my 2010!
That's labor if you bring your own parts and fluid. Porsche fluid is expensive, but I am pretty sure OEM fill is Febi which goes for 10-12 bucks per liter.
I think all OEM kit will cost about $300 with new gaskets, fluid, and filter (aftermarket cheaper)
Ps. They also said flushing entire system is not neccessary......I dont know
Edit: Porsch OEM with Febi would cost about $340. Vaico much cheaper but I read bad things about their parts, haven't used myself. I also got 10% off labor from dealer...might get it done if they dont mind doing it with Febi fluid
I did mine back in 2018 and spent right around $280 in parts & fluid (Febi). The total would have been a bit less but I bought some spare items for "just in case" as I'd rather have the part available than be totally down for want of a few $6 items. I used, as noted, Febi fluid and an aftermarket filter & gasket with the fluid being one of the most expensive @ a bit over $10 per liter. The pan gasket and filter came to about $150 for the pair.
So is the general consensus here to just wait until reaching the Porsche-spec'd mileage to do this? The wife's DD, a '14 S, is a good 40K miles shy of that number. It seems the most important fluid to change early (and often) is what's in the TC.
How often do you change tranny fluid? I think it depends on what you're comfortable with and how you use it...sorta like engine oil. I see ppl do 3k 5k 10k 15k intervals...
Me personally I feel comfortable with 50k-60k changes. Used redline D4 ATF
You're going to get many variation and reasonings from many different ppl. Do what makes you feel good that's reasonable.
I plan on keeping the truck for at least 10 more years-till I'm too old to launch and retrieve the boat and to also snowmobile/dirtbike and the kids will be both graduated from high school and in college-at least we can throw them out at 18 years old.
My commute is only a 13 mile round trip that I use the motorcycle/dual sport for all year round so other than towing and road trips, the Cayenne doesn't get used all that much so this fluid change might be the only one I'll need.
How many liters is a full flush and fill? I am at 100k and want to replace all fluid and filter. I would like to do the flush method in one of the DIY's and need to know how much fluid to order.
Also, does it matter which fluid to use? I see people mention Ravenol ($52 per four liters), Febi (about $50 for five liters), Liqui Moly (about $8 per liter), etc. fro various websites/vendors.
I used Motul ATF VI in mine, pulling the lines to the cooler and flushing it that way. took about 14 liters until it the fluid coming out looked new. It was cheaper to buy it in the 20 liter jug and frankly I found it easier to work with that way too.
I use Porsche Fluid, this new fluid relaces the old part # 958-300-540-00. I talked with Fremont FJ Porsche Service manager, he said Porsche Fluid has a slightly different folumar and additive. I can use cheaper Fluid but it wont last long. Porsche ATF is 120K miles, I have 79K now on my 2014. Porsche dealer does not reccommend to replace fluid and filter yet because they charge too much $$$ for this service. DIY $420 for parts from Porsche. Transmission Oil Tip

Thanks for all the tips in this thread. I used the ECS filler system as recommended and bought the Blauparts ATF kit and flushed using the cooler lines. Of the two hoses, the top one was the one that had fluid coming out. The quick disconnect on the ECS filler got stuck a few times and I had to unscrew it and tap it to get it working again. I didn't see it mentioned anywhere but I had some trouble accessing the transmission pan bolt towards the front of the car because it's partially covered. Everything else was straightforward. I used all the fluid that came with the kit (9L) and two additional 4L jugs which may have been excessive.

You have a V6 model? The transmission is further forward on those models, making it harder to reach the front pan bolts.
