Yes, thank you for this link. My ashtray is a complete waste (I don't smoke) and have always wondered if I could get something more practical for a replacement. Thanks.

Looks like a great storage idea for non-smokers however the loss of the front 12V power source for powering up accessories may be regretted.

Yep, the loss of that lighter is a major pain. I made the mistake of ordering my '06 with the non-smoker package and I ended up with power outlets in the front passenger footwell. Not at all convenient and actually annoying. How they could have a vehicle with no power outlet anywhere near the driver is unbelievable really.

Mine is a smoker delete car.

I just use the power outlet in the back of the center console. Easiest to reach. Two under the glove box are nice for trips but impossible for the driver to reach.

Is this thing easy to remove and reinstall?

It might be nice to use this for day to day use - when I don't really need the extra power supply from the lighter - and be able to put the original unit back in with the lighter power supply if going on a long trip...

I had found that link while researching the same thing you were looking for. I chose not to do it because I didn't want to lose the power outlet.

I managed to drop a quarter behind the tray and managed to jammed it shut as you described... However, I managed to open it by pulling it while tapping the side gently. I made sure to take out the CD from the unit prior to do this though in case the CD gets stuck inside the unit.

I'm trying to figure out the way to get that coin out....

Default Jammed Ash Tray

There is another good post on how to get jammed ashtrays open or remove the stock ash tray.

Search for "Opening atuck ashtray"
