2013 Cayenne diesel. Key will not release without using paperclip on the emergency key release button next to the key. Car has a good battery and is in park, but thinks it is not in park thus not allowing the key to be removed. Message on dash says " move gear lever to position P". Anyone know if I need to replace the shifting mechanism or if there is another easy fix? Both my keys do the same thing. Thanks.

I still can not figure out if I need to replace the ignition key switch or the gear shifter or if there is an adjustment I need to make. I greatly appreciate any help anyone has for me.

Usually with just about any problem, RennList members give good advice.
I have to admit, I have never heard of this problem.
Hopefully a simple fix.
Good luck.
Please keep us UTD on what you find.

Thanks for checking in KBell. I hate to throw parts at it, but it seems like it would have to be a faulty gear shifter or ignition switch. The dash shows it is in P, but the meassage says

Can you start it when the key gets stuck? If so, that seems like it's likely the switch (since I would expect the ignition lockout to prevent starting if the car really thought it was not in Park).
