I bought a 2011 Cayenne. Only after a week or so did I realize that there were some electronic issues:

• Sometimes the remote works, sometimes it doesn’t work at all.
• Sometimes the remote can open the rear tailgate, sometimes it can’t.
• Never will the interior button open the tailgate.
• Always the external button will open the tailgate.
• Sometimes the rear marker/interior lights work correctly, sometimes they don’t.
• Locking the doors with the remote will never lock the two rear doors.
• The alarm siren never works.
• If the alarm is set with the remote, the flashers run when it’s turned off.
• Occasionally, unlocking the doors with the remote will not unlock the passenger door.

Everything else works as expected.



How much of this can be explained by the alarm siren module? I have no idea if or when this might have been replaced.



Otherwise, the only thing I can think of is that the SUV has seen prior water damage. I found one of the sunroof drains blocked and the rubber grommets had been removed from the drains. In general, the vehicle has clearly been very well maintained. I think it has been garaged most of it’s life.



Thoughts? Any suggestions on how to proceed?
