Default Current system version of PCM

I have been trying to locate this information without any success. Calling Porsche USA was frustrating as the tech support team told mr that they do not have this information and I would need to contact "Germany"! Spe4kign with dealers was no better as I was told by a few dealers that they do not have this information and they would need to "hook up" my car to see what is "available". This of course despite the fact that by simply pressing CAR and OPTION, I know the system version my car is on. Any ideas on this? Thank you!

This post is dated, but I'm pretty confident it is still accurate. That said, you haven't stated which year your car is:

PCM 3.1 is the hardware version the communications module the car shipped with (i.e. the actual screen). I was referring to the "system version". This is a software version which is located on CAR - OPTION. Based on the above message, as of 2019, the version is 2.47 for a 2011 Cayenne. I wonder whether there has been a newer version since 2019. Unbelievable that PUSA or the dealer is unable to provide this information.

My PCM 3.1 system version in my 2015 is 4.76. I would imagine you should be able to upgrade that, though I don't really know what benefits/features it would bring.

The link that @BrendonF posted above has the correct information as it relates to versioning. Here is a thread that explains how you can update your PCM 3.1 to software version 4.76 (assuming you are running 4.XX to begin with): https://rennlist.com/forums/991/8739...on-update.html

I have a 2017 so it has PCM 4.0, my main reason for upgrading the Software Version was to see the volume indicator (why this was left off of old software versions was beyond me)... I'm curious, on PCM 3.1 with the 4.76 upgrade, was that added for y'all?

Nope, I've never had a volume level indicator on this vehicle. And I don't believe there's been any software updates for PCM 3.1 since 4.76 and it's been a few years since that update released I believe. I don't think we'll be getting any further updates unfortunately. It is the strangest thing to not have a volume indicator in the software though.

Honestly, that's just the strangest thing to me... like, the programming can't be that difficult and then I believe it got added back into the newer year model software because it was asked for so often. Still, just such an odd thing to omit IMO
