Question 2016 Cayenne GTS CPO - extended warranty?

I bought my 2016 Cayenne GTS with a CPO warranty which is due to expire in March 2023. It currently has 73K miles on it and I am the third owner. Recent work completed was a new Turbo from the dealer, covered under CPO. The question came up for the option to buy the Platinum warranty package through Porsche, they are asking ~$8,800 for 4yrs/48K miles - is it worth it? Should I explore other options such as Fidelity? Thanks in advance! RC

$8,800 seems like a lot, unless you think it's likely that you'll replace your TC in that time frame. Even then, could still be a lot.
Extended warranties are a rigged bet; the odds are always stacked against you. It's even worse from a dealer, as they are marking it up along the way.
I have owned my 2016 GTS since 80k miles, and I'm currently at 110k, which is close to the mileage when the extended would expire. You'd probably need two major blow ups (e.g. TC, suspension work) to even come close to $9k. And what are the odds of your repairs actually being higher than that? So at $11k, you feel like you've saved money? Odds are very slim you'll drop that much coin on your car in the next few years.

My ‘16 needed a timing chain job and new control arms at 80k. Those alone were 10k. Personally, I’m not going without a warranty just because it helps me sleep better at night, but to each his own. You can get a quote from one of the preferred vendors for Fidelity on here. Do a quick search and you’ll find discussions on which dealers normally offer the best pricing.

From our provider Freedom Warranty, similar coverage as the one your dealer is selling. 48 months / up to 125k miles $100 deductible is $5,410. Control arms and timing chain are covered under the extended warranty and would just need to be suggested by your dealership to be replaced. I had a water pump on my Rover that had not failed, but was suggest by the dealer to be replaced, no problem, covered by Freedom Warranty.

You can reach me at tgibson@highline-autos.com if you have any questions or would like to see the example contract that explains coverage.

What is the Platinum warranty vs the CPO ?
are they extending from your current end date 4 more years 2027?
simple math says thats $2k yr …. Many things can go wrong that add to 2k yr

from my recent purchase it was well worth paying a little more knowing I had a CPO warranty that goes with the car if you plan to sell in next few years

I had multiple water pumps on my Rover. Good chuckle reminiscing here. Every 30K miles.

Leaning toward going with the warranty, taking a look at other non-Porsche options as well

I agree, they did not give an option on the CPO only Platinum but ensured coverage is the same. One thing not specified is the suspension.

Fidelity Gold seems to cover air suspension bits. That's my choice when CPO expires later this year.

Troy is no longer a viable vender, we have provided coverage to at least 10 of his previous potential customers in the last two months after a stoppage in communication on Troy's end.
