The 958 Cayenne's trunk size is quoted as 670 liters (= 23.7 ft3). And that's a LOT of space. More than a E61 five series (500), F11 five series (560), Jaguar XF Sportbrake (550), Merc CLS Shooting Brake (590), Audi A6 wagon (who cares?), or even the long-wheelbase version of the Merc R class (633). Almost as much as an E class wagon (695 - how do they do that?).
For this, and several other reasons, I'm thinking of adding a larger PCar to the fleet in place of my current family car. So when I opened the tail gate, I expected to gaze on in wonder. And I did - at how small the trunk seemed to be. But wait, the back seats slide back and forth. Did Porsche measure the trunk with the seats all the way forward in the no-feet position? Or is there some illusion, and one really can fit loads of luggage in there without removing the rear passengers' legs?
While I think I know the answer, does anyone know for sure how it's measured, or the trunk volume with the seats all the way back, or any other helpful info?
Thanks!

Hmm. The new allroad is a pretty nice machine, and the RS6 avant will give a Cayenne turbo a run for its money.
Also the trunk is just as large.
...and of course, if you need a scoche more room, UHaul is just around the corner.

did some quick measuring on mine - with rear seats all the way back - 45 in. wide (3.75 ft.) - 37 in. deep (3.08 ft.) - 31 in. high (2.58 ft.) - 3.75 x 3.08 x 2.58 = 29.79 cubic feet - take away some for slope of rear glass...so 23.7 might be pretty close

(And if you did measure to the roof but would have a chance to measure to the top of the trunk cover instead, we could get a pretty good estimate of trunk size.)
Thanks again!

rs10 - i measured up to the headliner - i'm sure that would be how porsche would measure it - i don't have the roll away compartment cover in mine - what you are calling the trunk would be way smaller

Anyway, your measurements suggest to me that indeed, the 670 liters / 23.7 ft3 is with the seats all the way forward. And with the seats back, it would be somewhere between 1/2 and 2/3 of the volume you measured, so 15 to 20 ft3, or 425 to 566 liters. Hmm, one of those numbers is way to small for me. Basically a Cayenne can only work for me if its close to the top of that range, and I don't think it is :- ( .

Unless you are loading ping pong *****, comparing measured volume isn't really that useful.
Your best bet is do a sample packing of your actual load.
We did this a number of years ago with a Land Rover Discovery and decided that three car seats was not manageable given the rear seat leg room. The County LWB, on the other hand, worked perfectly. The measurements did not reflect the challenge of getting a child in/out of the middle seat in the shorter wheel base variant.

The trunk is deceptively large, IMO. I picked up this tool cart, new in box, on clearance and it fit inside my 2011 and the hatch closed completely. https://www.walmart.com/ip/Hart-36-I...R6XD/782856863
On the other hand, when I have a bunch of smaller things it feels like the back is the size of a corvette hatch. All depends on the shape.
Also, +1 or the Uhaul/trailer recommendation. Get a hitch, get a smaller trailer (<3500 lb) and you'll never worry about it again.

I LOVE my Cayenne Turbo S but given the on road choice and no need to haul or tow (not the case) I have to say I would pick the RS6. But,I have always enjoyed long roofs and desperately miss my E63 LOL
