tailgate strut groaning fixed
Oh, boy...my first chance to help Cayenne owners, (maybe).
My tailgate lift struts were popping and groaning during operation. With it in motion, I put my ear closer to the ends of the strut. The noise was louder there, it seemed. I took a can of white lithium spray, shook it up, and gave a quick shot at each ball & connection fitting. Let the gate go up and down a few times, and no more noise.
I thought my strut rods were corroded or worn, but it turned out I just needed to lube the little ball connection a bit.
I know, not a biggie, but try it if they are making noise. (If it has been posted before, don't let me know...)
