On Tuesday, I picked up a nice 2011 Cayenne S in Southern California, and drove it home to Vegas. Interior and exterior look great, and I am very pleased with how it drove the 300+ miles in 109 degree desert heat. Vehicle has 170,500 miles on it (that is not a typo). I've never been afraid of high miles, though this is the biggest leap of faith I have taken. For $12,000, I figured it was worth it.
I've owned C6 Vettes for the past 6 years, and decided to get something with more seating and cargo area. Now, I just have to figure out all the buttons, lights, and switches on this thing.
Thanks for the education I got on this forum over the last month or so, and special thanks to Lee for his advice on this car. You are all very helpful, and it is much appreciated.
Thank you! I found it on CL. I was doing nationwide searches on cars.com and autotrader, and west coast searches on CL. My filters were sales "by owner" only, 2011-2015, under $30K, no accidents, with air suspension, and tow package. Found a very nice 2014 in Phoenix with 104K miles, for $26K. Then I saw this one in San Diego. Figured it was worth the $80 round trip flight to take a look. It checked all the boxes, and had an exceptional-for-miles exterior and interior. I used three sources to verify no accidents/flood/etc.
I only drive about 4K miles a year, so it will take 7 years to reach 200K miles. Even if I spend $15K in repairs over that stretch, it will be very cheap ownership of a very nice car.
Probably TMI, but wanted to explain the thinking behind purchasing a 170,000 mile vehicle.
Doug, there are a lot of Porsche apps...which one do you use?
I use the good to know app. It's basically like the owners manual in an app. Super easy to navigate and easier to find info about your specific late model Porsche. That's really the only Porsche app I use.
