One other thing to consider is using Pentosin CHF 202 instead of CHF 11S.

11S is fully synthetic, thinner, and has been superseded by 202 which is partial synthetic and a little thicker. Over on BITOG, there was/is discussion on the two. 11S has a reputation for causing more pump noise.

i just tried the RVS fluid - absolutely no change in noise - so i wouldn't recommend that particular product to fix this - so, after new reservoir, fluid, checking lines, and the RVS, it seems there is no fix for this - i even took it to porsche and all they could say was "really can't say for sure...might be the pump...that will be $200 for looking at it" - not wanting to spend $$$ for a maybe fix i declined the pump replacement - the good news is i can't hear it as much with windows open in nice weather

Update: I had my PDCC / power steering pump replaced which reduced the noise maybe 30%. Unfortunately the noise is still very noticeable at idle and low speeds.

Oh man, sorry to hear that. I've been tempted on several occasions to get mine replaced but I was afraid it was a problem systemic to the pump itself, sounds like I was probably right.

A fluid flush and new rubber mounts for the lines have gotten mine down to a dull roar at least.

A relative of mine went through the same/similar issue on his 70k mile 2016 Turbo S. Turns out it was the power steering line bracket rubber mounts were broken off. They replaced all three. It was allowing the power steering lines to hang down. https://www.sunsetporscheparts.com/o...er-95534363810

I replaced my rubber mounts and it helped, but did not eliminate the whining, neither from the Cayenne nor from me

Lived with the whining noise for over a year. Thank goodness for the Burmester system!
Had a recent oil change and the tech noticed the rubber support buffer for the p/s hose was broken.
Car was recently in for brakes and I had the buffers replaced. NOISE GONE.

Do you have a part number for what was replaced?

Sorry, I don’t. There was a previous thread, about this issue, that listed the correct part number and the BMW alternative part.
The BMW part is supposed to be a better choice. Worked for me and I don’t have to turn the music up anymore.
Tried to post the link but failed.
****Do a search on “whining” in this forum and you’ll see it. It’s post #34 of the thread.

Anyone else brave enough to try?
So, I put on my big boy pants and gave the RVS snake oil a try and...it helped!

Not a miracle cure, still louder than I would consider appropriate for a $100k+ vehicle but noticeably quieter than before.

It's been about a month and, so far at least, no ill effects.

On this journey I have flushed the fluid and replaced the filter, replaced the rubber mounts with the BMW equivalent and now the RVS. Each part of that process made a small but noticeable improvement, taken in total it really is just me that would notice the noise at this point.

i was just going to post on here about the RVS fluid i put in the car in june - i posted above that it made no difference and at the time that was true - however after 3 months of it being in there i do notice the whine is quieter - still louder than normal as gregeast says but definitely an improvement

I’ll hop in and +1 for the rubber isolation bolts. I had this dentist drill whine and traced the cause down to the vibration of the PDCC line against part of the subframe. This is the long swooping line that does a 180 located in front of the hydraulic actuator for the active sway bar. These bolts degrade over time and separate and in many cases that I’ve seen, someone will just zip-tie the bend at the 180 around the subframe. This usually happens during an oil change as it’s necessary to drop the PDCC line to gain access to the oil filter.

These $3 Lemforder mounts for a BMW shut my PDCC up for good:

MFG part #: 1531301
