Default AWD Module

Good evening. I have searched the forums but only found description locations but still haven’t located the AWD module. Everything says it’s under the passenger seat but it’s not and there is no plug. Porsche dealer told me the module was bad and the ECM cannot communicate with it. So I bought a new module and cannot for the life of me find it. Does anyone have a photo of where it’s located? Thanks in advance!

What part number did you buy? It looks like you're holding the rear locking differential control unit.... and if there's no plug for it, you probably don't have PTV Plus!

"Everywhere" says the AWD or PTM control unit is under the passenger seat? The AWD control unit is on the transfer case itself.

Year and model helps us help you.

As mentioned earlier, are you certain your car has the Diff Lock Option?

If you do not already have a subscription to AllDataDIY or Mitchells it is well worth it.

Per AlldataDIY (fromPorsche), "The transmission control module on Cayenne vehicles is located under the right-hand seat in the area of the backrest. The control unit for the rear axle longitudinal interlock is also installed in the direct vicinity." OBTW there are potentially three modules in that are, transmission, Diff Lock option and another option requiring an oil pump control unit (PDCC?)

The module may require PIWIS to complete the install.

2011 Base V6. I do not have the PTV+ system and apparently the dealer gave me the wrong part number. UGH. Thanks guys! Now to order the transfer case module/actuator.

I even verified to lack of communication with my PIWIS III system.

Are you familiar with Porsche's 10 year warranty on the transfer which includes the module as it is installed on the transfer case?

Yes, my vehicle was first titled in November of 2010. It’s 10 year/unlimited mileage if I remember correctly.

I would ask the dealer to go to bat for you with PCNA HQ to cover it as a corporate goodwill or call PCNA and "Open a Case". My reasoning is that PCNA's choice of 10 years is probably not based on much other than money. Why didn't they choose 11 years or 15 years?

Good luck and please keep us posted.
