A known issue is the dodgy ACC/PAS
A known issue is the dodgy ACC/PAS (e.g., 2018 Cayenne) where the adaptive cruise randomly shuts off. This has been debated on Rennlist ad nauseum. Porsche does not care.
Only solution:
Please file a complaint with NHTSA. I did. More complaints and NHTSA will respond.
https://www.nhtsa.gov/report-a-safety-problem#index
Also, contacting your US Congressman & Senators especially if the are up for reelection and or on the Transportation subcommittee.
So far there are only two complaints on NHTSA, hundreds on Rennlist. Most just live with this error. Why ...on a $150k vehicle.

@Dr. G7 - this would be more effective if you did step-by-step directions on how to register the fault on the NHTSA website - perhaps with screen captures for each step. The "weight" of complaints is important in getting NHTSA's attention. The other concern is that they look for things that can cause injury and death - so outlining how that might happen with a defective AAC/PAS device would help make the case.

Also, here is my complaint. BTW, I did not do all caps. ALL our government computers, the keyboards are caps locked. Back to 1960s COBOL programming.
"2018 PORSCHE CAYENNE: AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS, RANDOMLY A SERIOUS UNSAFE TO OPERATE 'SERVICE NECESSARY' WARNING APPEARS ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL AND THE CRUISE CONTROL MALFUNCTIONS. WITH THE SERVICE NECESSARY WARNING INDICATED, THE VEHICLE IS UNSAFE TO OPERATE. THIS UNSAFE VEHICLE IS NOT DRIVABLE WITH CRUISE CONTROL FOR APPROXIMATELY THE NEXT HOUR. THIS BREAKDOWN IS KNOWN TO PORSCHE (VIA THEIR COMMUNICATIONS WITH ME) AND THEY ARE UNABLE TO RECTIFY THE ERROR. IN A 2020 PORSCHE CAYENNE THIS FAILURE HAS BEEN RECTIFIED."
I also have this info. might not be applicable to all.
ATTACHED, INVOICES FROM FIVE VISITS TO PORSCHE DEALERSHIPS, ALL DURING THE WARRANTY PERIOD. ATTACHED ALSO PHOTOGRAPHS TAKEN ON VARIOUS DAYS, TIMES AND SPEEDS, AND TRAFFIC CONDITIONS OF THE SERVICE NECESSARY WARNING ON INSTRUMENT PANEL AND CRUISE CONTROL MALFUNCTIONS.

garrett376, me thinketh, just my 2cts, dc1225 is supporting a fellow Porsche owner. Commiserating my pain. He did not say he was falsely reporting his car has the problem; just that it is known safety hazard. For all hoopla about Porsche, calling out "the emperor has no clothes" is brave. President Kennedy's favorite quote from Dante, "The hottest places in Hell are reserved for those who in time of moral crisis preserve their neutrality."
Nobody went to prison for diesel gate.
Actually, quite few did. Engineering manager Axel Eiser (captured hiding in Croatia.) Keith Laing (two years jail in Michigan then jail his native Germany) Porsche manager Jörg Kerner, etc. etc.
Also heads rolled, e.g., CEO Matthias Müller
Porsche/VW paid 535 million euro ($598 million) fine, consumer settlement nearly $1 billion
Legend: Ferdinand Piëch (ex-CEO Porsche. Cayenne under his leadership, the car that saved the Porsche sinking ship. Piëch is the grandson of Ferdinand Porsche who founded the company "Dr. Ing. h. c. F. Porsche GmbH) Back to the legend: Piëch warned Porsche management of the dieselgate debacle and was apparently ignored. Dr. Wolfgang Porsche (of family unity Porsche - Piëch) used this leaked information drive the final nail in the Piëch Porsche coffin.

Same issue
Just picked up a ‘17 CTTS. Experienced the same issue the next day driving to work on the highway. ACC came back on after 10 mins
since the car is under CPO, I’ll have the dealer look at it on the next oil change. Especially since there is no ready solution that we know of.

I thought I was well on my way to hell but then internet came around and I can tell you that there is no way in hell I’d end up there. Come to find out I am in the top 1% in this regard. I am my own worst critic and you only know what you know.
