I recently had the opportunity to compare Carvana and Carmax purchase pricing and processes. I've been a long time Carmax advocate but that has recently changed. I wanted to sell my 83K mile 2011 CTT (replaced it with the 2018 Audi S8+) so I researched current trade-in, private party, and retail prices on KBB, Edmunds, NADA, Cars.com, eBay, Auto Trader, BAT etc. and received buy offers from Carmax, Carvana, Kelly, and Edmunds. Carmax was ridiculously low and well back of wholesale whereas Kelly and Edmunds offered me low trade-in. Carvana however offered me low private party which when compared to the others was between 5 and 6K more! The Carvana sales process is simple and fast. They don't inspect your car, pick it up for free, and pay you on the spot. In short, what they advertise on TV is what you can expect. I'm not affiliated with Carvana and I'm just passing along my own experience. But, if you want to sell you car without the hassle of "tire kickers, be backs, talk to my wife, I need to test drive it, will you take, multiple Q&A" then sell to Carvana and buy from Carmax for their warranty and lower market prices (lower than Carvana and other retail outlets). JMO but now based upon experience.
I 100% agree with you on carvana. After VW bought back my Touareg TDI I bought a brand new Tacoma TRD Pro 6 speed, after about a year and 15k miles I hated it and sold it to carvana for $1k less than I paid new. They were great, easy to deal with, picked it up, gave me a check and it was out of my life. Went from there and bought a Macan GTS, sold that back to a Porsche dealer and am now happy with my Cayenne GTS.
I sold my 2013 suburban last summer on Vroom . Carvana offered me 21K. Vroom gave me 25K. came to my door and picked it up. very easy to work with . I checked their website , they listed it for 27.5K and sold in less than 2 weeks. I used to $$ to buy my 2016 CD.

Good to know, I don't think I contacted Vroom. Perhaps I should have. Anyway, my CTT was picked-up yesterday so it's too late. Oh well, I'm happy with the Carvana deal but will also contact Vroom next time for a comparison.
