Very good feedback! Thank you.

Seems like I should not rule out the turbo then!

My experience with a 2009 GTS (6 speed) vs 2010 Transsyberia (essentially a GTS, even though it lists as an S) vs a 2011 Turbo:

- Power is more immediately available on the GTS.
- Once spooled up, the Turbo is quite a bit faster.
- I have PDCC on the Turbo, and had it on the Transsyberia, it may be more of a maintenance concern over time (I had/have no issues), but it makes a real difference in handling and chasis feel.
- GTS has more growl when it goes, and rewards throttle input with a throaty roar.
- On the highway, the Turbo gets considerably better mileage... I was able to average around 20-22 MPG, but with the GTS I never got above 17, even on the highway.
- My Turbo is a 2011, so newer interior style, and well optioned (18 way seats, full leather, Burmester stereo, seat heating/cooling) and so feels much more like a well dressed luxury car, and is a bit quieter. I assume a same year, similarly equipped GTS would be the same, but I found the 2009/20010 GTS to have a more "analog" feel. Not better or worse, just different.

YMMV, of course, and either version is pretty great, IMHO.

could be that your 957 gts just got worse mileage

i have gotten up to 22 mpg (calculated by fill ups and not using the car indicator) and usually average 19-20 highway doing 85-90

city I do get worse but I’ve never gotten less than 15 city. Ever and I mean driving the way I do.

I'm at 74K miles in my '13 GTS. Alcantara seats with red stitching and have held up wonderfully. However, I do miss having air-vented seated which is not available with Alcantara. Don't think you can go wrong with either GTS or Turbo.

Yeah I have Alcantara on my 911 but on a Cayenne I prefer the look of the leather. Also as a family car (3 kids) the leather is much easier to maintain than alcantara which gets grubby very easily from lost chocolate bars etc :-)

Also had a look at an early 958.2 turbo and think that could be good option. Newer tech, LED lights.

Does the 958.2 turbo have different suspension to the the 958.1 turbo?

The suspension is the same. Air suspension standard, PASM standard. Both had options for things like hydraulic control of the anti-roll bars.

I think in the UK the adjustable air suspension is an option on the GTS but standard on the turbo.
Been reading lots of good things about having PDCC although not sure on reliability.

I am still unsure about a GTS or a Turbo at the mo, depends what comes along. I like the turbo power and it does seem to be more economical. GTS has less power and more thirsty... but it does sound good. I wonder how long that novelty would last before one would prefer the extra power at the end of the day.

Does a Gen1 GTS and Turbo have identical suspension if both on air or is the GTS lower?

Gts is lower and has different dampening settings. Stiffer settings. same components as far as I know.

I had started to look at 2013\2014 CTT's as they were often around the same price as the 2014 GTS I was hunting for. The biggest item that concerned my was the Torque Vectoring Plus that all the CTT-S's have and many CTT's seem to have got. For whatever reason that item seemed to me to be a concern in so far as long term ownership goes. That being said although I love my 2014 GTS I still regret not getting the 2013 CTT-S I could have had for about the same cost.

I've never had a problem with my PDCC/PTV CTT in the 6 yrs ownership. 2012. 71k miles. Tow with it. Autocross it. Sandy beaches of NC & the winter Mtns in Adirondacks. The dang thing does it all, and I usually get 24 mpg (non-towing) when at highway speeds. My vote is CTT,... but I'm bias since I found a gem Turbo w/ GTS aero kit styling & lots of other goodies ($155k msrp). I do miss the NA exhaust sound though - it is the only drawback to Turbo's (jump in a GT3 to get that fix tho)

I never had a problem with any major engine component in my 2011 CTT. My biggest issue was the air suspension. You can't go wrong with either a CGTS or CTT but I'm biased having owned both and much prefer the CTT for many of the same reasons discussed in earlier posts.

All I can say to anyone looking, make sure to drive both CTT and CGTS. On paper, they seem very similar but I found the driving experience to be very different. Drove both on the same day and HAD to have the GTS; I was only luke warm on the turbo.
