Hmmm.... that does make sense. How do you check that?

Or would a good highway run help clear it out?

PIWIS II for sure. Maybe one of the iCarsoft or iCarscan products. You can buy a bootleg PIWIS II at a reasonable price.

You could also tell by using an OBD-II interface and something like Torque, and have a page that shows all 4 EGT sensors. If you're on the highway and EGT2 &3 is over 1,000 and EGT4 is 600+, that's a good indication you're in a regen.

It appears that may have been it. Two days of highway driving last Thursday and Friday and the mileage display seems to have come back up. That's preliminary, because I didn't go anywhere over the weekend, so we'll see what it does over this week.

Another 21 MPG average tank. Mostly around town, a little bit on the highway.

I'm going to take the air intake apart again and see what's going on in there. I cleaned it in July 2019. The fix to the fix has been applied since then.

Anyone else take the intake apart since the second fix?

I'm not doing the second fix. But I just cleaned my intake, 20k miles since original cleaning, it was just as bad as previous. Looks like this is going to become routine every 20k miles or so....

What is the rationale for not getting the most recent fix?

2nd fix is a must to get back 95% of what CD was before the 1st fix. If you opted not to get 1st fix, I would have agreed with that.

Agreed, the 2nd most recent fix is what made my CD go from barley tolerable to drive, to enjoyable and confidence inspiring. The original fix was a band-aid and this second fix is the apology to all those who still have the cars. The engineers just needed more time. I highly recommend the 2nd fix.

Because I'm planning on getting a tune in the coming weeks and would erase the updated, would it not? And, to be honest, I hate people working on my vehicles, other than myself.

I believe it is the combination of both ECU and TCM tune for the fix affecting drivability.

You need the 2nd fix in. The tuner builds the tune on top of the current software, so you want the best possible base to work from. The tuner doesn't make an entire tune, they just play with some of the boost/fuel/timing settings.

Noted. I'll see about the update.
