Also, if we have enough people do this upgrade maybe we can pinpoint the year our cars went from IDE to SATA. So post up what kind of drive your car has and what year it is.

Great writeup! Thanks! You get bonus points for using Wiha screwdrivers. By far the best (like some other products of German engineering).

Lol. Those are my terminating screwdrivers. I'm an industrial electrician.

Thanks for this info! I'm doing it today. My 2014 had a Sata drive.

And it's done. Stock drive was an automotive grade Toshiba 100gb, replaced with a 250GB WD Sata SSD. I was on a Mac using Parallels and HD Clone.

Process was pretty simple and straight forward thanks to Dougs write up. I made it more complicated by dialing in my JoyeAuto install a little better, I had removed the Satellite cable because of fitment issues, but got longer stand offs and satellite radio is working once again. Those tiny ribbon cables are not fun.

It does seem a little snappier on start.

That's great. It seems a little intimidating at first, but it's really just nuts and bolts. I'm sure the sata was even easier. The ide adds one more step in the additional hardware.

Thanks. I did it yesterday and it seems to be instant touch responses. I'm sure copying mp3s from a USB will be much faster.

I'm sure you will have no problem Slickdvl, but I always worry about making a lot of changes at one time. It makes it hard to pinpoint if problems arise.
