Default Do I need a new blower?

I’m getting no air from the vents, regardless of whether I leave climate on auto or what I set the fan to. I’m reading 2 codes:

008300 fan control, short circuit
008301 fan control overcurrent

New blower and check the AC and cowl drains?

Might want to check all related fuses first. What year, model and miles on the car?

Would be surprised if a cowl drain was involved but they should get a periodic cleanout. Blower motor is certainly on a short list.

2011 base, 50k, good idea with the fuses. The only relevant fuse is #57 on the left and it isn’t blown. I finally started the car just now and the blower is working again. Wonky fuse or me cleaning the codes got it working? I’ll change the fuse, just in case.

Sometimes hard to tell. I suspect it will return on the hottest most humid week of the year, at least that is my luck. Also take a look at fuses 44 and 50 on the passenger side panel next time it gets out of sorts.

I replaced my blower motor - it wasn't totally dead but only running at 50% capacity, per my mechanic. Living in Louisiana it's been the best few hundred bucks I've spent on a repair.

Another funny quirk: my auto A/C was lowering the fan speed long before the car was truly at the selected temp. After reading a thread here I realized it was because the vent to the right side of the steering wheel was aimed at me, and thus blowing cold air on the interior temperature sensor located on the dash behind the steering wheel. Aimed the air vent away and have been happy and cooled-off ever since.

2011? 2012?

There was a service campaign to close up an opening in the vent assembly just to the left of the PCM. There is a hole in the vent housing that when the vent is turned toward the driver - forces cold air out of the hole and it blows directly on back of the ambient cabin radiant temperature sensor in the dash (the little round thing below the right side of the instrument cluster.) Fix was a piece of self-adhesive foam.

There is very likely a writeup on that in our Cayenne DIY forum.

https://rennlist.com/forums/cayenne-...l#post15903217 I replaced blower motor in the last year or so on my ‘11 CTT. This thread made it super easy, and I got the part at NAPA.

It’s intermittent at this point, sometimes it blows, sometimes not. I’m still getting this code:

008300 fan control, short circuit

New blower it is then, I guess.

If anyone finds this thread later, new blower fixed everything.
