Mine suddenly turned chalky white where the red is. I managed to compound just the red to remove.

Me too, I thought the hood emblem was metal. But its plastic on the modern Porsches... While you replace the emblem, I would recommend a new rubber seal for the emblem and 2x screws, you find the set on ebay, Be careful not to loose the screws inside the hood while taking them out, they haver a soft rubber sealing inside instead of the usual thread.
I went for a grey custom metal one, as posted above.
Regards, Alex

The custom refinished pewter metal emblem looks great on my black hood.

I can't imagine putting a decal there...it's literally the first piece of bling that people see when looking at the front of the car.

I might put one on my garage refrigerator, though, next to where I store my autocross magnetic numbers.

Luckily for you all the vendor on Etsy that I got my aftermarket one from is no longer supplying others with crappy products... Does it bug me, yes, enough to spend $200 to replace it? No.... Lesson learned: unless you have a few confirmed buyers of something that is not factory and everyone is happy and it looks like it satisfies your need, go for it, otherwise, there is a whole industry of crappy replicas that you think work...

Each time (11) I’ve purchased a used Porsche I put a new factory emblem on. Really stand out.
