This sucks. I just finished my paint correction and when I was wiping off the wax I noticed my hood emblem was delaminating. I thought these things were handmade out of enamel and fired in a kiln. Looks to me like it was wrapped in colored cellophane and hit with a hair dryer.

That's patina. Leave it. Both my cars have a little missing. Doesn't bother me. Can't let it. More important things to get under my skin.

It's an eye magnet. Like spraying battery acid in my eyes. I have to turn away and rinse my eyes with the hose.

How is the thing held on?

Is there a stud on the back of the badge?

I'd like to take mine off and leave it off.

I had bought white vinyl to put over the badge but it looked a little worse than the emblem itself so I live with it.

The unpainted/uncolored one does look better and would stand out less. As it is, the hood emblem is the only thing on the truck that really shows what it is as there is nothing on the sides, nothing on the wheels(I have Touareg 20" Pikes Peak wheels with black stick on centercaps) and nothing on the rear/hatch. I like plain(unpretentious).

The PORSHE letters on my trunk lid are peeling. Kinda bothers me. Dunno if they were sprayed at some point or what.

The tailgate letters always peel. They are subjected to exhaust fues and heat.

I put a new hood crest on but only bc i don't like the gold emblem. Changed mine to the titanium/silver one as my 958 is black

You can take the metal crest off (2 nuts from under the hood) and replace it with a vinyl sticker. Depends on what what kind of vinyl, can look better or worse.

black n white aftermarket vinyl which is on my 911 and full color OEM vinyl. There's also a full color OEM vinyl that came on the gt2rs that look a little different

There's a couple chintzy thread cutting nuts on the back side that thread onto 2 studs on the back of the emblem.
Takes all of 5 minutes. Just open your wallet...

I replaced mine at about 65k miles after it was peeling and unsightly.. Not sure if it was a rock chip or just poor quality.
