Default Reliability 2014 Cayenne S

Hi Everyone,

my friend has a 2014 Cayenne S with 50K miles he wants to sell and I wanted to hear your thoughts and experiences on this model. The car has a clean service record and has been always good taken care of. I am just hearing a lot about leaking coolant, fuel pump and center support bearing with these V8 engines. Anyone with long term experience with this specific model? How is the likleyhood that this car can go another 50-100k without bigger repair cost?

thanks

There is a post in the "Sticky" section of this forum "IF YOU'RE THINKING OF BUYING A 958 - READ THIS FIRST!" that I'd suggest you read.

Most of the items you have listed are for the prior series of Cayennes, made from 2003-2010.

After reading the buyers guide if you have specific questions - come back and ask them. A number of people have spent some amount of time to develop posts that are in the "Stickies" section of the forum and in the DIY subforum. Many common questions can be answered through these posts. Please take advantage of them!

Thank you so much. Within the thread you sent, there was reference to another thread which confirmed my main concern: https://rennlist.com/forums/cayenne-...pipe-glue.html
so I am out. Thanks again!

Default 2014 Cayenne S

I am the owner of a 2014 Cayenne S that is my daily driver. It now has 96,000 miles on it. It has been dealer maintained since new. Under warranty these are the items that have been replaced; Valve cover gasket ( slight leak) , clock ( the second hand fell off) and the Transfer case. After the warranty expired and at 94,000 miles the thermostat stuck open and the Cayenne would not warm up correctly. After consulting with my dealership, they recommended a new water pump and the replacement of the water pump and thermostat housing to the new Porsche part to eliminate the possible coolant pipe glue failure. I paid for the water pump and thermostat and Porsche covered the housing replacement as a goodwill repair . I believe they did this because I had maintained my Cayenne at the dealer for every service since new. I was very pleased that Porsche did this. My rear brakes are still the original but my front brakes rotors and pads were finally changed at 90,000 miles. Pretty good length of time for the original brakes. At each service interval I would ask the Tech to check everything including the brakes and all was well until 90K. I did have a stopped up passenger rear sunroof drain that manifested itself by dripping down onto the passenger sided rear interior quarter panel which is where the Bose Amplifier lives. My radio would cut in and out. This was at 85,000 miles. I took care of this myself. I pulled the drain hose cover off and cut it open so it drains freely now. I did this to all 4 drains. I had to take the interior panel off, dry everything off, clean the corrosion off of the amplifier plug, reassembled it and put a plastic shield over the plug so this would not happen again. The amp still works fine. I caught it in time. I am on my third set of tires. Pirelli's last about 38,000 miles. At every oil change, I now have the dealer change my transfer case fluid since the replacement transfer case was replaced. The fluid has looked good after each flush, which is is done about every 9000 miles. Oops, forgot one other item I replaced myself after the warranty was out, interior blower motor. It would not blow high speed last summer. The resistor went out. This model uses a blower with the resistor in one unit. I found my replacement at RockAuto. $134.00. Exact same VDO part as a VW/AUDI/Porsche. In fact the Porsche sticker and part number was still on it. Dealer price was $700, VW Touareg price $350, Rock auto $134.00. Simple to replace.
Well, thats it. 6 years, 96,000 miles and I love it. There is nothing like the sound and power of the V8. I have actually had people at my dealer ask me if I would sell it numerous times because this was the last year of the normally aspirated V8.I keep saying NO!

Hi, what do you think the valve cover gasket leak wouldve cost to fix out of warranty? I fear I have this issue on my 14” GTS and its out of warranty

My repair order shows 2 hours labor plus parts. They replaced the passenger side cover. Also they replaced all of the screws etc. No price breakout for the warranty parts
While they were right there, I had them change my sparkplugs also. That cost me $135 in labor plus 8 spark plugs. This was at 76,000 miles and spark plugs should be changed at 80,000 miles.
