I know Porsche does not break this officially down but does anyone have any idea of the
# of Porsche Cayenne diesels in the US?
I read somewhere diesel was only around 12% of production but I believe that % was stated sometime around 2017 or 2018 in article when they shut down selling diesel, so take it with a grain of salt. It might be a bit low when used in this "estimated" calculation
year, Cayenne US sales #, %
year # 12%
2016, 15,383 x 12% = 1,846
2015, 16,474 x 12% = 1,977
2014, 16,205 x 12% = 1,945
2013, 18,507 x 12% = 2,221
total CD in US = 7,988?
(the 958 CD was only sold in the US for model years 2013 to 2016)
so does 8,000? (approx) in the US seem about like a good "low" estimate? or am I missing something?

I am also curious what the estimated #s of the VW Touareg, Audi Q7, & ???, anything that shared the V6 diesel engine in the US. (or Canada if known)

66,569 Porsche Cayenne's sold
if there were 30k Porsche Cayenne Diesel's that would be 45% of them?
that does not seem right
maybe 30k with diesel engines (Porsche, Audi & VW) ?

not sure if Audi & VW sold diesels the same years (2013-2016) but for conversation, I pulled those #s
--------VW -----Audi
--------Touareg - Q7
2013 - 8,233 - 15,978
2014 - 6,961 - 18,517
2015 - 7,037 - 18,995
2016 - 4,223 - 30,563
--------26,454 - 84,053
again "assuming" 12% (which might be totally wrong)
VW 3,174 - diesel Touareg's ? (maybe?)
Audi 10,086 - diesel Q7s? (maybe?)
Porsche 7,988 - diesel Cayenne's (maybe?)
so we are up to 21,248 (estimated) with a lot of assumptions
I have left out TDI Passats & Golfs & I am pretty sure a few others got this engine? Macan? Panamera? & I am sure I left out more..
so pretty easy to get to around that 30k ish total
I am curious in the real breakdown though... if anyone has any incite?

796 Cayennes 2013 to 2016 for sale on Autotrader in the US at this moment
66 of those are diesel
8% ?
could add a few more car sale sites to get a better average but that is a interesting stat right there.
Of course I am sure there are other factors at work here, like CD owners are newer owners as they just all flipped within the last year or two so not many for sale, etc.

According to this article (https://www.carscoops.com/2016/11/po...0-new-cayenne/) there are about 11,500 diesels in North America. Not sure about the breakdown between the US, Canada and Mexico, though.

I look at Porsche's CPO locator, Autotrader, and Cargurus, and there are never many diesels for sale. 11,500 for North America seems very low, but then again, Porsche numbers are small regardless. Today, I searched the CPO locator and looked for 2015 to 2016 with 46,000 miles or less and there were two. When I removed the filters, out of 1,232 Cayenne's for sale, 17 are diesel.

when found up my CD with 72k miles, sure I paused but then I started looking into it... loaded with all the options, color I wanted, garaged, 5k oil charges done at dealership pre-purchased, and technically they were Porsche warranty? covered and documented in history available to all Porsche dealerships that want to look at it, it was still under CPO. New brakes, almost new tires... it was too good to pass up as she was a clearly a queen.
As I understand it Diesel engines, properly maintained of course, have a slight edge over the gas counter part, so mileage “should” be less of a factor in the big picture right?

only 2 Cayenne Diesels for sale on PCA marketplace (both 2015s)
where would one source Canada Porsche sales #s?
They need to be factored into this # because I have heard potentially more Cayenne sold in the Canada then the US? Is that right?
