I was going to replace the chrome emblems with the matte black version on my black w/black trim CS. But after I took the original emblems off, the rear looked so clean...
I figure it this way. I don't need to advertise the brand. Those that know cars will recognize the Cayenne. And those that don't, well, they'll probably assume that it's a Kia Extravaga or Mitsubisho Bombero or whatever. I'm okay with that.
Full disclosure: I've been debadging my vehicles since 1990. It is literally the first thing I do when a new (to me) vehicle hits the driveway for the first time.
...and in fact I drove a debadged (freshly painted) Volvo 1800E in 1980.
Additional info for those with 958.2s... I've measured my CTT with the 0NA option, and the distance from the bottom of the 'S' to the edge of the panel is 89mm. The PORSCHE emblem on models optioned with 0NA places the emblem, vertically-centered in the space between the glass and the panel edge. I had thought of adding the 'Cayenne turbo' to the hatch, but it would be a crowded, hacked look. Also for anyone interested, getting the 'Cayenne turbo' emblem is a bit tricky as well - you have to buy them separately, and often times, they're not described correctly on the various sites for Porsche OEM parts. (after a couple inaccurate 'orders', I worked with a parts guy and determined the correct part numbers for the OEM chrome emblems: 958 559 675 01 - Cayenne chromed (when you search for this item it will state it does not fit your Porsche Cayenne' if you have the 0NA option and share the VIN number); 958 559 677 01 - Turbo chromed (this emblem is quite pricey).
Park the vehicle with the back facing the sun.
Cover the entire car with sheets or plastic, leaving the lettering uncovered.
Clean the area with 91% alcohol, let it evaporate.
Apply thin coats of your preferred rubberized spray (I used Plastic-Dip). Wait 20-30 minutes between coats. It took me about 5-7 coats.
Finish with applying glossifier. I did 3 coats.
Peel off the excess. It is rather a satisfying activity.
Go for a test drive, be careful, the extra power is immense.

Are each of your letters 89mm from the panel edge or do they curve at all? I mucked up the plasti-dip attempt on my 958.2, but also noticed my emblems were cracked in multiple places so it turned into a debadge project. Now I don't really like the debadge either because I think my color lends to a very empty look on the trunk panel. So I'm going to get a gloss black Porsche emblem only to fill the empty space again.

Yeah, the emblem is on a flat horizontal plane (given the very minor convexity of the panel itself). If you measure it and place masking tape, you'll get the correct mounting line - equidistant across. (this is just for the 'PORSCHE' emblem, as noted, I have the model designation delete option - if you're placing both the Porsche and the model designation emblems, the spacing changes.)
