Question heated steering wheel? - how hot? (on a 2014 CD)

for those of your with a heated sheeting wheel, how hot does it get?
I would describe mine as luke warm at best...or "light" warming

this is on a 2014 CD (I believe the changed the wheel in 2015? This wheel is the 2011-2014 version)
Its still under CPO but thoughts? how would you describe yours? does it get hot?

My 2014 S is just warm, not hot. The 2010 Base I also own will get much warmer, but Porsche didn't think well enough to give it an on/off switch. Several conditions have to be met before it comes on. Something like under 30 degrees and heat selection at full max.

interesting, so the heat setting on your car will change the heat on the wheel?

its just a cool rainy day in San Diego (its like low 50s), the worst we get is in the 40s
so i need to get this CD in the 30 degree temps to really see if will turn on? interesting

My 14 is warm and comfy, not super hot. My wife's Infiniti QX80 gets blazing compared to mine.

No - the 2014 is just an on/off switch like yours.

My 2010 Base has no on/off switch and will only turn on if it meets the conditions of outside temperature and heat selector is on full hot. In other words, the only way to get it to turn on is for it to be cold outside and put the heat controls onto full. Only an idiot would have dreamed something like that up.

The last week or so temperatures in the morning when I go to work have been in the single digits and the seat heater and steering wheel both get turned on as soon as I start the car. I must say the 958 has the best and quickest seat heaters I've ever had. The steering wheel to me is comfortably warm. Just the way I would want it. It warms my hands even through gloves, but never to the point of being uncomfortably hot.

Our 2010 Base steering wheel comes up with the fans at low and the heat set in the mid 70s, if it is around 40 or lower. No need to max out the heat on ours.

Mine does not have the fancy model of the temp controls - no temperature setting other than "bars".

It's controlled by the same thermostat that controls the heated mirrors.. (and I suspect washer nozzle heaters.)

BTW - my 2011 wheel can get toasty warm in about 5 minutes and uncomfortably warm in 10 minutes. Mine is a wheel with the wood rim - other ones such as all leather may feel different. The wood part does heat up first. And it has the button on the back of the center spoke.

I'm trying to figure out how to fit a heated PDK paddle wheel on the Boxster. I really miss the heated wheel when I'm out running around in 45F temps with the top down. Seat heaters are very good, heating system is very good, a heated wheel would eliminate the need for gloves and that would be wonderful if I'm out hooning around (which the Boxster tends to make me do) - it was rated in several tests as "the best handling Porsche" and in one test as "the best handling car period." - dunno - but it's simply glorious to find a twisty road, really twisty and out it into sport or sport-plus and go at it with the top down. As close to riding my motorcycle as I can get on 4 wheels.

well it was rather colder in San Diego this morning - low 40s
so i turned on my heated wheel & (seat heaters and heat)
did it seem to work better? slightly
does it get "hot" no. (my wheel is all black leather)
do i want it hotter? ideally yes...
i think i need to go see / feel another 958 heated steering wheel for comparison

I turned mine on yesterday after reading this thread and mine gets really warm. It was 76 out as I am in Florida, but it was very warm. Rick.

My 2011 wood steering well gets a comfortable warm. We have had Lexus and Infiniti before and those wheels got really hot to the point where I had to turn it off. Now we have a Porsche and Audi and they get a comfortable heat when it’s cold but not to point where I turn it off.
