Frying pan - fire? I'd suggest reading the long hybrid thread that's stickied. That's one of the few places you'll learn about living with the hybrid.

It’s a very mature vehicle. Stately. Comfortable. Powerful. But also very heavy. Imagine a 58 year old Lebron James.

If I get rid of my Diesel, I am going to a regular gas burner. The last thing I would want is a hybrid Cayenne. You don't want to own it out of warranty. Why not just get an S? It would not be the choice for me.

because the idea of being able to commute both ways from work in all electric mode is appealing to me.

If you really want a hybrid, I would keep the CD for a couple of more years and wait for the 9Y0 hybrids to hit the used market

When I think about getting rid of my diesel, I remind myself that it is a daily driver, it has plenty of torque, and every car is a compromise. Comes down to it, we all like and want different things.

what’s so bad about the 2017 model? Everything I have read about it is positive so far. I have an opportunity to read my 2014 CD for the 2017 e hybrid for next to nothing.

Have you read the long thread on the hybrid? I haven't - but it probably didn't get that long with people just saying "Boy, my hybrid is great - nothing ever gives trouble.." and if your last sentence means you can "trade" your 2014 CD for a 2017 hybrid - doesn't THAT tell you something? The diesels had a short burst of popularity where prices were good on them, I suspect that has now faded away.

Don, he's saying he can go from a 14 CD to a 17 hybrid for next to nothing. Either the CD value is good and the hybrid not so much. Or. it's a bit of both. I looked at trading my 15 CD to a 16 S, and it wasn't even close to next to nothing....it was a lot of $$$

yes i have a good friend who owns a car lot. he owes me a favor. the hybrid thread has some useful info in it but nothing that's all that alarming... im just interested in peoples input, that's all. all cayenne generations had there own set of issues, was just curious if this particular model had any bank breaking flaws...

Would be interested as well,on more opinions for 2016-2018 Cayenne S E Hybrid, did read the whole separate Cayenne Hybrid thread, it more like a 50-50 thing roll your dice ownership . Would be also open to a Cayenne S or a Turbo if opinions are not favorable. Considering it for my next SUV next year after my current lease or wait on a good deal for the 3rd Gen 9Y0. The E-hybrid makes sense to me as my wife's work is 12 miles total a day plus my commute to Main st is 3.5 from my residence. Things can change but still want to get a Cayenne.

My friend had the hybrid cayenne and I have the diesel. He hated the hybrid and got rid of it. The range of all electric is very small and less if you get on the gas(according to him). Also he got way worse gas mileage then me with the diesel when not doing all electric mode. I guess if you have a short commute (15-20 miles each way) it may be doable and not cost you any gas. As for me I think the diesel cayennes are awesome and wish they were still making them. But to each their own. Ps he got rid of the hybrid and is much happier now.

Thanks for the feedback Kayaknfly. Something to ponder about. I got time till next year - could lease again an Acura MDX (hopefully the new gen will be available) for the time being and will give me sometime to save up for the 3rd gen CayenneeS E-Hybrid - based on the reviews, it's much improved version on the 958.2 gen. My Wife even told me why not try the New Palisade, she actually likes that thing , but i said we'll see..lol
