Default Brake fluid type?

958.2 Diesel... doesn’t take any kind of goofy special brake fluid does it?

Owners manual says “don’t service brake system, take it to dealer...”

Mines due for a flush and I have the day off, all I have here on the shelf is SRF and I’m not using that so need to hit the parts store...

No idea what "SRF" is - so I'd say don't use that. You need DOT4 or DOT5.1 (NOT DOT5 - silicone)

Castrol SRF synthetic racing brake fluid. You can use it if you want as it's DOT4 compliant.

I use the same in all of my Porsche's and VW's. It used to come colored blue. Which was nice for flushes. I would alternate between blue and gold. It was easy to see when the flush was complete.

Until it was discovered that the blue fluid would eat up seals...

I used to use it as well. Made flushes super easy.

Is that why you can't get it anymore? I never had a problem with it...

I have been using valvoline synthetic on all of my non track vehicles for years. Going to flush the CD next weekend when the rest of my Quickjack gets here. Was going to do it this weekend, but only 2 of the 3 boxes has arrived.

No. There used to be a variant that the fluid was blue in color.

Thanks guys. Just regular 'ol DOT4. Confirmed once I pulled the trim pieces back and looked at the reservoir cap.

Fluid flush done over the weekend. Bought whatever the parts store had in DOT4. Wasn't about to use $160 worth of SRF.
